More than 100 kilos of cannabis resin were found when police stopped a white Transit van in the north of the city.
Officers from the PSNI`s Drugs Squad carried out the raid at Fort William roundabout just before 11am.
One man was arrested during the operation, a police spokeswoman said.
She could not confirm whether any paramilitary involvement was suspected.

Providing Canadians their most comprehensive picture of drug and alcohol use in 10 years, Health Canada and the Canadian Executive Council on Addictions released the "Canadian Addiction Survey" (CAS) on Wednesday.
