When I called tobacco a "white man's drug" - I was referring to bright leaf Virginia - by far the most prominent, commercial variety - ideal for worker drones, rather than the many dark leaf varieties occationally by Native people for sedation/inspiration

"Worker drones" -- so true! Most modern N. tabaccum varieties (e.g. burley brightleaf) are hybridized for mildness. The coruporations even lower nicotine content in their already weakened 'leaf', just so the kids will smoke more. Thanks, David.

You should learn something about the history of these plants. They can be used properly, and were about a hundred years ago. What do the history books say about the "great drug problem of the 1890's"? Nothing? Right...nothing.
