Conservatives join Liberal Barney Frank in calling for Medical Marijuana

ANTI-POT EFFORTS BOOST ICE USE
"Marijuana eradication in Hawaii contributed to the increase in the use of the drug "ice," according to a government study."

SUPPORT WIDENS FOR S.F. CANNABIS FARMS
"Beyond the one-liners, however, is the serious matter of how to get medical marijuana to patients in a structured, limited way that fulfills the will of the overwhelming majority of California voters who passed Proposition 215 in 1996."

VANCOUVER SUN CALLS FOR DECRIMINALIZATION
"The arguments against decriminalization are either trivial, specious or dishonest -- or all three. The arguments in favour of it are compelling."

CONGRESSMEN TELL FEDS TO BUTT OUT
A former aide to President Reagan and several members of Congress - including an openly gay, die-hard liberal; a one-time Libertarian presidential candidate and a Orange County Republican - said the time had come to end federal prohibition of medical marijuana in states that authorize its use.

The story on pot eradication causing an increase in the monstrously destructive ice is reminiscent of the same scenario in Beliz, where pot eradication sparked a horrible crack epidemic.

But I have to ask. Looking at the havoc caused by ice, crack, heroin, etc., how can the Libertarian party say that ALL drugs should be legalized? I think these bad ones have got to have some heavy restrictions, at least.

Dear John Thomas(p.o.o.i!:) A response to your question might be, that any prohibition creates a black market. Problem-Reaction-Solution, 1st create the Problem-flood urban areas with hard narcotics, 2nd get publics Reaction- "somethings got to be done!"

3rd-Give the people the Solution-more police powers, more power for certain politicians, more money & power for the military.

I agree with John Thomas. I support legalizing cannabis but not hard drugs. Hard drug user should be given treatment. Responsible cannabis use should not even be a fine.

The article shows that Norway has very low prices, close to non-existant police persecution, but a GROWING heroin problem. -- Something to think about.
