"Canada's marijuana laws are not working. The country's police chiefs said so years ago. So did the Senate's legal affairs committee. Even the Canadian Medical Association Journal has joined the call for decriminalization of simple possession of cannabis for personal use."

CALIFORNIA SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS 215
Ailing Californians who use or grow marijuana with a physician's approval are protected by state law from prosecution, the California Supreme Court decided unanimously Thursday. In its first review of a 1996 medical marijuana initiative, the court said medical users who are arrested may have the charges dismissed without a trial if a doctor has approved use of the drug. making possession a non-criminal offence will help the police concentrate on growers, a.k.a. smokers. this change in the gov't attitude is only a strategic retreat, don't be fooled.
