The new Justice Minister did, surprisingly, NOT duck the question, stating at the midpoint in english that he is "committed" to the former government's actions on gay marriage and marijuana decrim, and at the end in french that he "supports" decrim.
I watched Prime Minister Martin's press conference as well, but unfortunately he escaped having to comment on his future marijuana policy, as none of the knucklehead reporters given the floor had the good sense to ask.
Minister Cotler may in the future have an "evolution" of thinking on this topic if Mr. Martin does not concur and gives his leash a good yank.
