Tommy Chong gets chonged on Leno by SNL's Mary Mohlar. Pierre Berton, Canadian author in favour of marijuana smoking, has died. Trailer for Trailervision's "Escape From America" about reefer refugees and others coming to Canada to avoid the US's war on itself. This WAS "Escape To Canada", but it seems that with the times the way they are...

:: TOMMY CHONG STARS IN "THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES"
:: TOMMY CHONG - SPECIAL GUEST STAR (Dec 7-19)

Grammy Award winning comedian Tommy Chong is legendary for his invaluable contribution to American counterculture as part of the comedy team Cheech & Chong. During their reign, the twosome recorded six gold comedy albums, including the 1974 Grammy winner Los Cochinos, and starred in seven films, most of which Chong co-wrote and directed. After Up in Smoke, Cheech & Chong starred in a string of successful films. These films remain huge video rentals and a regular diet of daily television.

Chong went solo in the 1990 Far Out Man which he wrote and directed. Chong has appeared in over twenty movies with screenwriter, director, and producer credits to his name. The September 1998 issue of High Times magazine, featured Chong on the cover was one of their best selling issue to date. Chong's cover outsold George Carlin, Kurt Cobain and Jerry Garcia. Chong made a guest appearance on ABC's Dharma & Greg, November 1999, and currently has a reoccurring role as Leo on Fox's That 70's Show.
Spread the Herb...
Tommy Chong stars for 2 weeks only from December 7 - December 19, 2004!

Ideal Entertainment Group and Magic Arts & Entertainment are stoked to present Tommy Chong in THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES, written by Arj Barker, Doug Benson and Tony Camin, directed by Jim Millan. THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES opened on March 30, 2004, and is set for an open-ended Off-Broadway run at The Actors' Playhouse (100 Seventh Avenue South between Christopher and Bleecker).

Fact: 10.725 million Americans used marijuana in the past month. (U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration/SAMHSA, Office of Applied Studies, National Household Survey on Drug Abuse).

Fact: 10.95 million tickets to Broadway shows were sold in the entire 2001-2002 season. (2001-2002 League of American Theatres and Producers, Who Goes to Broadway, The Demographics of the Audience).

Put that in a pipe and smoke it! Seems it's high time for Mary-Jane's long overdue theatrical debut.

THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES is a "hit" unlike anything New York has seen. Catch the buzz as Tommy Chong appears on stage December 7-19 alongside Doug Benson and Tony Camin, riffing on the rites and rituals of pot and regale the crowd with the highs and lows of marijuana. (Disclaimer: This production does not glorify drug use. It merely illustrates that cannabis culture can be a thing of substance, humor and creativity).

Told from all points of view from hazy to highbrow, THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES never loses the pot...er point, demonstrating that the stories surrounding the bud are as varied as those who indulge. THE MARIJUANA-LOGUES sets herb centerstage, delving into fact and fiction, myths and misnomers alike. Not since the 60s has there been such an exploration of this oft-taboo but totally titillating topic.

WTF?

Tommy Chong says:

"Now I look at people who toke and I see that they're losers"

"I was addicted to pot"

Not exactly a spokesperson for the MJ movement.
