I'm in the market to buy a ballast and was wondering if anyone would have input to where I could pick one up????

I would preffer something in the rage of about 500 to 1000 watts. I know there was a store here that sells random junk, and I found two 1000 watt ballasts there, but that was a luck score, and I gave them to a buddy. damn!!!!

I would stay away from Northern Lights. It seems to be a sight run by a 13 year old selling reconditioned street lights. I am dead serious here folks, you will end up needing new reflector and then what will you have saved? At $190 for a 400w converted street light that cannot be air cooled, it is a waste of money. You could do better on eBay. Just trying to save some folks a few $$$. K_K

Hmmm and here I thought that I was asking about ballasts not lights...I can get any light on the market here at a number of stores. We have supply stores here that sell Matal Halide, and Sodium bulbs, and all that. No orders, or mailing lists

I suggested Northern Lights because I thought that I remembered that they parts as well as lights (ie. ballasts), I had never dealt with them before. I'm sure locally ANY electrical supply company could order what you need if they didn't have one on the shelf...

I don't know how things work in the states, but in Canada we have hydroponic stores that will sell you everything!!!! you would ever need to grow, and get what you are looking for

Yes perhaps I did but ballasts are hard to find in stores here and when you do find them...ching ching ching$$$$$$$$$$

All I can suggest to you is to keep an eye on eBay. I have seen 1000 watts Dual ballast lights sell for $65- I see 400 watt MH/HPS ballasts sell for $70 all the time. I've gotten a few good deals. There aren't too many canadian sellers with ballasts so you may have to have it imported, if thats not a problem. Hope this helps...K_K
P.S. Take a gander through the "Buy/Sell" forum. Maybe somebody is looking to part with a piece of there equipment.
