Buckets for Bubbler [Post#: 110832 ]

Just as soon as I found out about the bubbler setup I went out today and picked up: 4 air pumps, gro rocks, ferts, grow pots and ph kit. This is my first hydo try. I cant find the right buckets for the neut solution. I dont want 5 gal, too big. Any suggestions or tips? Did I forget anything?

Hi Mammoth!
I got two suggestions for you, you could look in the back of a few deli's or grocery stores for 3.5 gallon buckets or use a square 4 gallon buckets like I have used. I have two of these and the only place I have found them is a supermarket and a dept. store, and they are full of cat litter or bird seed. Hope you got alot of cats or birds!! Attached is a pic I used for a demonstration a while back showing overcrowding with bubblers. As you can see it has a much smaller footprint than the 5G buckets, but overall, the round ones are easier to scrub, change and maintain. Hope this helps, keep us posted...K_K

Re: Buckets for Bubbler & Question about Air Pumps new [Post#: 111475 / re: 110832 ]

Try your local K-Mart™. I just picked up 6 for my system last night. I paid $2.49 each, and they are the black 3.5 gallon. You probably won't find any at your local Home Depot, Ace Hardware or True Value, but you may have better luck at a paint supply store. I spent about 3 or four days driving behind local restaraunts, grocery stores and fast food places. I found the same thing that you did. Kitty Litter and Butts!!!!!!!
As for the lids, they do manage to have those at Home Depot, and theye're only $.99 each!!!!!!
I still need to find some decent air pumps in order to complete my system. The better pumps have a volumeteric reading of either liters, gallons or CFM, I can't remember right now.
If anyone out there could lend me some help with this information, it would be greatly appreciated.

The OPTIMA brand air pump sold (quebec/canada)at WALMART,k-mart.zellers and pet stores ....has a variable displacement of 500 cc/minute - 5500 cc/minute,6 psi and uses 5 watts, $50. p.s. Not all air stones the same (the green (BEST) airstone creates finer air bubbles than the blue airstone)I've have also tried flat airstones but the worst of was all NO AIRSTONES!

Hey, guys, you can use almost any kind of container you want. Just make sure it's really clean. I've used small rubbermaid containers of almost all sizes. Drywall mud buckets work, same as Laundry soap buckets. You could even build a wooden frame, line it with plastic and run a bubbler in that! you can run it with or without airstones. just grow
