Shortened day???

Has anyone ever tryed to shorten the day????? I had a setup going a couple of years ago it which I was running a 20 hour day during the flower cycle. So after 6-24 hour days I would have 7 day-night cycles. This worked quite well with plants that would normally come off in 50-55 days ready in 45-50 days. Flowering light cycle=10 hrs light 10 hrs dark. Has anyone else tryed this???
