Brown roots starting to form [Post#: 118174 ]

I'm using a bubbler setup with rockwool and lava rocks. I pulled the net pot out yesterday and found that the roots dangling down in the solution are turning brown. Plus the leaves are starting to show goldish brown or rusty color. I have three airstones in a five gal bucket. I'm using super veg A&B; hydro nutes. I've always known brown roots as being the begining of root rot. Would the light passing thru the lava rocks and RW be the culprit. My water temps don't seem to be hot. I don't imagine the solution burning the roots cause it calls for 4tsp per gal. So initially, i put 1/2 strength, which is 10 tsp. Any constructive critisim is appreciated.

I rather doubt the light is doing it.Make sure to leave a gap between pot and nute solution. You don't want all the roots totally submerged..Change nute solution and throughly scrub, disinfect bucket.Rinse roots in ph'd straight water with a little hydrogen peroxide in it.Try adding some hydrogen peroxide too your solution.Available at hydroshops.Appr 10-15 mls/gallon...IMHO..PEACE...

I second using H2O2. I also add ProteKt to the solution; the potassium silicate helps the plant resist disease, among other things.

if your roots are submerged you need to increase the frequency of water circulation.....roots die when shit ripens in afoaf's hydro....unless your sure its no water probem change it and adding a bit of h202 will help but only if you do it like every 48 hours.....nft's roots will brown if your nutrient solution doesn't circulate frequently
half on half off during day cycles awesome but 3/1 is acceptable and most pumps are very cheap to run....watch your leaves though cuz they may want much more nuts....better water+spring warmin=faster metabolism dont fuck yourself

I'm using 3 4" air stones. Shouldn't that be enough?

Yes H2O2 is great. But get the mixtures down right. If your using 35% its 2ml per 4liters (1 gallon) I'm assuming above, the measurements were for the lesser strength H2o2.
Let sit in your water for atleast 20 minutes before putting in new nutes.

bet hes using same shit most do the 50 cent shit 3% used to work with chems 35-50% h2o2 is wicked shit and will combust just about anything that'll burn....don't fuckk with it...mix 1/8 cup 3% to a gallon if you want to bro but your air stones outta be plenty....if its not your air in the water and the tips of the leaves aren't burnt...stems red? how about petioles? pinner thickness of stems and brown roots+ not enough nuts....always a problem in spring time metabolisms climb through the roof brother.

This might sound a little wierd, but I have heard that the best way to add H2O2 is through an IV drip. This way you always have a consistent amount of dissolved oxygen in your nute solution. When you add it all at 1 time you get a spike of dissolved oxygen for maybe 2 days then decreases. Also remember that if you are using any B'cuzz products DO NOT use H2O2 with them. I sure this would also apply to any products with living enzymes. Hope this helps! PEACE

Maybe I missed it, but did the pH get checked? I have read that if the pH drops way low, roots will turn brown and die. So, maybe the pH is too low and needs to be raised up to the 5.5 range. Those roots will probably die off, but if fresh PH adjusted nutrient solution is poured into the container to let it flow over the root system they will regrow in time.
