Final Flush - eh??

Hi, I've been looking through the posts in this forum, and I see that Final Flush comes up a lot. What is the final flush? I'm a first time grower, so im a little uneducated. Is this something important that I should know?

The final flush is the flush that you should start doing 2 weeks before harvest time. It gets rid of the flowery taste in your bud. drain it of nutes and stuff..good for the smoking.

Basically he is right, the last two weeks of the budding cycle you should only use pH adjusted water with NO nutrients. This allows the plants to utilize the nutrients that are stored in the plant and reduces the build up of un used nutrient salts that would make the smoke harsh and chemical tasting. Also, be sure to properly dry and cure the buds to ensure a quality smoke. The drying and curing can take up to an additional month. If you really want to get down to tasting the buds, I would cure the nicest buds the right way and smoke the smaller ones sooner as you see fit.

What do I do in order to get pH Adjusted Water? I don't suppose that's tap water is it? =) How exactly do I flush the system? Just by running the nutrient based water out and replacing it with the pH water with no nutrients?
Sorry if they seem like really stupid questions, but I just don't know.

To get PH adjusted water you have to buy either PH papers or a PH pen... Take the ph of the water ... and adjust it to around 6.8 or so. They have PH up and PH down you buy to adjust it. And yes... to flush you just run straight water through the system. You always want to use ph adjusted water by the way... not just for flushing.

distilled water is best for hydro IMHO. the easiest thing for me (because its easy to get and cheap) is the ph tester in walmart aquarium section. it comes with a ph indicator solution to find out what ph your tap water is. then use (most likely you will never have to use anything but ph down) ph down or ph up to change your water from there, one draw back on the cheap shit is that it only reads from 6.0 - 8.0 but that is all you really need, just dont make the solution much more acidic than 6.0 so you can keep a good idea of where your ph is, and you will be able to tell how fast the ph rises (it usually does in a hydro system)

In order to flush properly,you first have to leach your medium.This is done by pouring about 4-5 times the volume of your medium,correctly adjusted ph'd straight water.This will rid your medium of nutes,forcing the plant to use up all stored nutes stored into itself.You then run straight ph'd water for the remainder of flush.For hydro a good ph is around 5.8.For a proper flushing it should be done for a minimum of 7-10 days,2 weeks being optimum...IMHO..PEACE..

Hey Grate..for whatever watering schedule is used yes.Hydro is usually always watering so you have to.Not in soil,leach and water normally afterwards with straight ph'd water..IMHO..PEACE..
