Flushing... [Post#: 73164 / re: 72521 ]

I flush my herb for the last 14 days with straight water yet once cured, it still doesn't burn quite as good as it should. Is it possible that it needs to be flushed even longer?? I run my nutrients between 1200 and 1400 ppm during flowering...

i am not an expert but when i grew in soil( just started hydro 5 weeks ago) i added 1 tablespoon per gal. earth juice catalyst to plain water when i flushed( plant to do this in hydro system ) it seems to help the plants use up the extra ferts that they have stored up. did it with out the first 2 grows and it sure seemed to help in the last 2 grows. just an idea. peace mota20 ps also heard of a clearing solution i think it was sold by abby's in canada.

I Flushed mine for 10 days on the last crop. Alot may have to do with your curing method. You may need to change some aspects to meet with the demands of hydro weed. It has a tendency to stay wet from what I have seen. What I mean is that it can take longer to dry and cure then weed grown in dirt.

Real curing takes a month or longer after drying. After harvest, hang plants in a low humidity area till they feel crispy to the touch. Than take the buds off the stems & put them in mason jars for 1 month, open the lid once a day to let the buds breath this keeps mold from formong on the buds. Make sure you do this for a month or longer. The smoke will come out smooth, more potent & will burn more evenly.

Thanks,

Thanx for all tips...I have wondered if perhaps it is the way I cure it...I totally trim my buds when I cut the plants down, then lay them on newspaper for about a week, turning them every day. After 7 days, I put them in Zip-loc bags and suck as much air out as I can. Every few days after that, I open the bag and gently mix the buds, then suck the air out and reseal. It's been just over a month since the last harvest and though the buds are nice and dry, they still do not burn 'properly'. I mean, a joint burns o.k. but there is some black ash and it has to be re-lit every once in a while (alright when smoking alone but a pain when in a group...)

Thanx again...Peace...

You overfertilized then, and the excess nutrients are permanently stored in the leaves. There is nothing you can do now! :(

Permanent fertilizer in the leaves? no that belongs in the truth section
under organics forum. WHen you flush them hydroponically and I am not
sure that was your problem you got to see those leaves start to turn yellow
and that will tell you that your fertilizer has been used up and the
plant is starting to take and metabolize the clorophyll in the leaves for
its blooming needs. If it ain't yellowing then you are probably not flushed.
BTW rockwool retains nutrients quite well and thus it probably takes time
to get rid of them before the flushing has an effect.

When they legalize we still will produce better medicine. This is medical advise.

I understand Hiatus. Yes once you have harvested them your cooked
or (fertilized) or whatever.
