Can I use 5qt buckets?

Can I use 5 qt. buckets for bubblers? And what should the maximum size of plant be for this container? Can it be 2ft-2.5? I only have a small space and want to maximize.
Any help would be appreciated :)

instead of 5 qt. buckets try one of those rubber maid totes about the size of a cat litter box , cut holes for 3 or 4 plants and it should work fine as a short bubbler. peace mota20

I use 3-4 gallon buckets and my finished plants are 5 feet. At harvest the buckets are almost root bound, so bigger is better. I believe the ideal size is 5 gallon buckets for bubblers if your plants are finished at 5+ feet. Good Luck.
