Yeah, it was un-scheduled back then, but is quite illegal in Canada now. Apparently, it has re-surfaced because the precursors required to produce it are not as closely watched as those of MDMA, and while it has some shitty negative effects (death), it does get people fucked up (unlike totally bunk pills).

maybe the drug was MPTP...a synthetic form of heroin. it was used around that time period, injected, and caused a horrible progressive degenerative disease that was called 'frozen addict syndrome.'

ric: it wasn't MPTP. I'd heard about that drug when I was west in 1974. Different story altogether. I think it was PMA.

Trimethoxyamphetamine (TMA-2)
TMA-2 was first synthesized in 1933 and its psychoactive properties were recognized in 1962. It is more potent than mescaline, but with qualitatively similar effects on mood alteration and sensory enhancement. There is a small margin between the dose needed to produce psychoactive effects and a toxic dose (Shulgin, 1976).

your are probably right MDMA was the reincarnation of MDA (often used as a coke cutter in the '70s - disco dust)
put a twinkle on your disco and dance (in your own mind) like j.t., on the other hand you could listen to the beegees (and beegee wannabeees) for hours without hurlin!

you are misinformed,
a GOOD dose of MDA would pretty much nail your ass to the floor for some many hours (it was a little to much like acid and airplane glue for me - i never sniffed, but i built models for years as a kid and had these fucking horrible headaches - not my high thanks).the high was to confinin or constricting sorta!
BEWARE of deception: years ago while gettin ready to leave a friends house the 'big deer' (a large and kinda intimidatin lookin guy) shoved a fork full of sauted mushrooms into my mouth saying he just brought back these hawaiian magics (i found out later it was button mushrooms [sauted]) with several thousand mics of acid stired in). i left and took the back way home. i picked up a girl hitchin (maybe 16 or 17) and truthfully i was commin on (when those little wild things start zinging in your peripheral vision - when hendrix said 'are you experience' -I WAS!), but felt okay the girl said she was going a couple of miles, then abruptly said thanks and asked me to stop and got out!
i always felt mildly bad since i had no intention of bummin her although my contact high may have felt like it was a small tidal wave (i was gettin pretty high, but trying to maintain) indeed one of the heavier doses i had taken up till then! HA HA Ha ha!
