Stoned too often?

Hello.
Have any of you guys ever become kind of anti-social from smoking Cannabis for too long? I think something like that has happened to me.
I think I have been unstoned for one or two days in three years.
I have always been kind of a loner and not terribly good at social gameplaying, but it has gotten to the point that I almost never leave the house, and never take the car for a drive.
Does anyone think that a disinclination to go out and meet new people could somehow be caused by too great Cannabis-consumption?
Thanks.

Firstly rarely behaviour in and of itself is completely analyzable. If you are content with your situation then it is probably alright. If you are not content and don't know how to get out of it then you should probably seek some sort of help.
It is healthy to not want to engage in social gameplaying. There are others in the world looking for someone like you.
When they legalize we still will produce better medicine. This is medical advise.

i am in the same situation. Its cool to hear im not the only one. Since i started smoking i didnt want to hang out with anyone who didnt smoke. Cause then suddenly its like they are parents instead of freinds. Eventually i didnt really think i needed to go hang out with them. I mean i got my pot and tv and computer all at home :) . Kinda funny though because im 17 but when i was 12 i was a hellraiser and was totally against pot because my mom was in jail for drugs (i was against drugs in general). Well i was prett bad and got suspened from school on a regular basis. Then i started smoking pot. I did a complete flip flop. Grades = improved attitude = improved, I feel that pot helped me in the long run. It made me realize there are other ways to have fun instead of being bad and immature. I know right if i ditched pot and went back tp hanging out with my freinds. I go back to where i was and i would probably drop out of the little bit of school im in. I feel that making the decision to keep smoking will help me in the long run. Some may say well man you are missing out on your teenage years. Go out and party. But im not saying this is with all people but its seems as though the partyers tend to turn out bad when you see them 30 years later. Know what i mean. By all means i dont mean all people who party when they are teens becuase i recently found pictures of my highly successful father (co-owns a multimillion dollar buisiness) with phrases like Coke...the real thing. IM sure you can geuss whats in the picture. Anyway i pretty much forgot what i was talking about. Oh ya im gonna keep smoking pot cause in the longrun it will help me you should too. PEACE - im an idiot

Find people that you are comfortable with, wether they smoke or not and do stuff with them. i think you may be paranoid,i get it occasionally and it makes me hole up in my house.Scared of parents or girlfriend or cops ,whatever ,sometimes even a strain of weed might make my want to get up and move(mostly sativas i'd guess) and get out.

Odorless et al.:
Thanks for the letters. You all sound like very nice people.
I just don't know how to begin a relationship anymore. The understanding required to participate in another persons life seems locked away in some golden age in a past of indeterminate distance, as a prenatal memory, impenetrably shrouded in mysteries and layer upon layer of memories and experiences.
I feel so "unreal" when I get in the company of other people, as if I constantly have to hide things about myself.

I still like the Doors!

Forget pot, it may be the music you're listening to that's making you antisocial.
Actually, you're probably just out of practice. You must still have somebody you know. Just go out more often, alone or with someone you're kinda comfortable with. It takes some getting used to, and will likely continue to feel completely unreal, but hey, some people pay good money to make the world unreal-seeming, right? If you are unhappy with your lack of social life, rememeber that you are in control of what you do. It just takes a little will-power sometimes.
People may be strange as all hell, but you're people too.

Hmmm, that's weird. I smoke bud very often, and I find that when I smoke I tend to talk a lot. Like I trip out on ideas and stuff. Mind you I am a very social when I am not stoned...so maybe that's the reason? Who knows...

I am afraid I don't. I think normal people meet new people at school or at work. I don't know how other people make new acquaintances.

Yes, I think that's true.
But I don't think I could be genuine with other people when I basically feel everything, including how I am behaving towards them them, is a put-on. It will shine through that I am hiding myself and not being direct with them.

I also have the urge to talk a lot when I am smoking. I have just gotten a bit tired of only there only being myself to talk to.

Yes, I guess it's difficult to know.

hey, not to worry we can't all be like the rest of 'em. those periods come and go for everyone, it might just be that you happen to be dropped in a not suitable time-era this time around. but never forget, there's more of us and fuck 'em if they don't love you.

green, maybe you've experienced too much rejection? Did you get dumped or something by a partner you really loved? This might bring on that feeling which makes you want to cover up your "true self"... POT DOESN"T CONTROL ONE"S MIND,
maybe you could spend some more time with your family? That seems to help me when I'm feeling anti-social...which I do sometimes, the same as you describe. If you can't get to your family, loosen up! eat some mushrooms! start reading! KEROUAC! Look at the world differently! Explore new things...hobbies! Find hobbies that excite you, once your excited about something, theres no stopping you!Don't stop smoking, just don't let it diminish your urge to do things. If when you get high you feel less motivated to DO THINGS (not nesessarily with people), then cut it out of your schedule, and add somthing that makes you even happier!
peace, and I wish thee well.

I think normal people meet new people at school or at work. I don't know how other people make new acquaintances.
so you know absolutely nobody? Just moved, or what? Okay, that just means you don't get to practice first, which makes things more difficult, but still not impossible.
Hmm, no school, no work. I have the same "problem" (when everyone else is up Monday morning, and I'm still in my robe, it's hard to believe it's a problem). My suggestion;
go to a place where weidos hang out. A strange bar, club, or cafe. Dress however you are comfortable with your appearance. Be yourself. Look for someone who looks like they smoke pot. Offer to share a joint with them. If you aren't comfortable with yourself, talk about the other person. Ask them questions, etc. Alot of people are suckers for a good listener. If they seem to have similar interests to yours, you have just made a friend. Ask when next they will be at this place. Meet them again. Maybe exchange phone numbers on this second meeting. Voila!
And if you're smoking this joint, and get totally weirded out by this person, and they're not your type, all you've lost is half a joint.
This works better with a group of people. Try a group of three stoner-looking people you see. Some people get just as weirded out as you about being alone, especially if you have to go into an alley to smoke up, ya know?

Hmm.. Dormouse mentioned something about music, and I'm going to have to agree with him/her (sorry mate, I'm not really acquainted with many people here so I don't know your sex =)
Anyways, as I was saying, I noticed music being mentioned about changing the way you present yourself, and therefore affecting your self esteem. I'm going to have to totally agree with you. I'm in my mid teens right now, high school, and I've can always identify people who aren't comfortable with themselves. How? The way they present themselves of course. They all look the same. It's like they all conform to the most current trend, a story I'm sure that we've all experienced. But I like to consider myself different. I started listening to a lot of punk music, and noticed the sense of individualism that it held. So I always dress like myself in a manner I feel comfortable with. And I'm happy, and I think some of my friends admire the fact that I'm different. So maybe it could be your music. The bands I've listened to for the past few years have really affected me. Definitely for the better.
Good luck, mate. -Justin

Uh, that was an attempted joke on lil ole me's part. The Doors were quoted, and so I said they would cause someone to be antisocial. Hmm, I need to be more specific next time I try ot be funny...
You have a valid point there, Justin. And think how much extra twnsion punks get out thry music... at least you aren't one of those silly punks who only use alcohol and sneer at pot and coke.

Hey GreenWay,
I do believe too much of anything is not good for you, variety is truely the spice to life. But that being said, I do not think that MJ can be held responsible.
You really should not feel that you have to hide yourself from others, everyone has issues so you are not alone. When meeting new people I prefer to talk about things I am interested in or what they are instead of things from our past. Things that have happen before are in the PAST were they belong. The moment should be enjoyed; and the best thing is the moment is always NEW. I have found that friends and like wise, do not need or want always want the details to my past and therefore you should not consider it hiding or being fake.
I personally like to focus on people's differences because that is what I find interesting about others. I think you may want to write down (or think about) why you would like to have people around. Knowing what you want from interaction should help with your perception of the situation and expectations. A good perception/outlook always attracts company, since most of us look for happiness.
I think the suggestions of music, etc... are great because I have found these to be very influencial in my self perception. I think the main thing to remember here is that you need to be proud of who you are and what you like. Self confidence is admired and highly sought after so just be yourself and things will fall into place.
You sound very nice, starting believing it and you will see how easily friends are made.
Later
RC_Colas
PS.: Once you what you want from a friendship, etc..., and the things you are interested in, search out like minded people. For example, if you like skiing or bikeing, join a recreational club. If you peotry is you ticket, many bars have poetry reading nights, etc.... Good luck and keep in touch with your CC pen pals.

Just don't go see a shrink over it...you'll be walking out of the office with a useless prescription for prozac...been there, done that.
One wierd thing is is how most people mellow out from it, but there are people (like me) who get wired from the herb...I wonder if it's like the ritalin thing: need it=mellow and don't=speed...? Damn...back to my bowl..
