Hi Guys,
Well, no I don't think you could substitue in this manner because hemp beer is normally brewed using hemp seeds. It's very different than using thc and pot. Though my guess for making pot beer would be the same as anything else with bud, just soak it in there for a while and see what happens.
I will look for a thc beer recipe for you guys.
I am a non drinker and don't keep up on the booze recipe's much.
Cheers!

Yo I don't have a recipe , but you should check the Lycaeum, I know that they have a recipe. My buddy tried making dank-beer with mixed results. It tasted great( he added it to an oatmeal stout), but the THC does not dissolve effectively because of the low alcohol content. Most beers are around 5%, and that doesnt absorb the crystals too quickly at all. I would advise using hash, or pure trichomes instead of plant matter.

hi joewho.
well, i'm having a pretty hard time finding a thc beer recipe, I think because of the low alcohol content, perhaps it's not a popular method. Though there are a few other recipes here in the forum for other alcoholic mixtures, or other liquid mixes that will take you for a ride...
I'll keep looking!
thanks, Friday
And yes, screening is the best way to get your crystals. A piece of silk screen works great. Take 2 thick pieces of cardboard and cut out the middle to make a cardboard frame. Put the screen between the two pieces and secure with staples, glue or tape. Roll your leaves or whatever gently over the screen with a magazine or something to catch it as it comes out the bottom.
These make for a wicked toke!

Hey Joe, I found it again , so here it is straight from the Lycaeum ,Hope this helps buddy
The following is from the "Ask Ed" column of the February 1991 issue of _High Times_ (Reprinted without permission):
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
When making beer, can I add MJ at the time I add hops? Would the THC dissolve in the beer and would it contribute to the high and taste of the beer? How much pot is added to the wort(malt, hops and water mix)? Ganja Brew Marysville, CA
[Ed answers:]
MJ can be added to the beer at the same time hops are added. THC is oil/ alcohol soluble and some of it will dissolve in the brew as it ferments. Before being used for brew, the MJ should be thoroughly dried until it is crispy. This activates all the THC by removing water molecules from the THC molecules. Next the MJ should be gently washed by soaking it in cold water for several hours. This removes some of the water soluble tars and chlorophyll associated with the "grassy" taste of MJ injestables. Nevil, of the Seed Bank, first discorved that when soaking in cold water, some of the glands fall off the pot and collect on the bottom of the container. These glands are so clean and free of plant debris, that when smoked they produce hardly any smoke and only an "essence" of taste. It's almost like smoking oil. Nevil also discovered that these glands can be rolled into a very brittle "hash". However, this material melts easily when heated, and does not re-solidify. One easy way to handle the MJ is by using a giant nylon net "tea bag". These are often sold in brewing stores. It is hard to say how much MJ goes in the brew since different people are sensitive to different amounts, and the quality of MJ varies greatly. Years ago, the Unknown Brewer used to add one ounce shade leaves per gallon of brew. This comes to about 1/10 ounce per bottle. Of course, less high quality grass would be needed.
----------------------------------------
Personally, the only thing I know about beer brewing is that the finished product is at my local supermarket. Please don'thold me responsible if this just wastes your bud (this IS a pun (MOAN) :-). I hope this infor- mation helps you. If you try it, let us know if it worked.

Or an even better way to get a silk screen/a handy frame already attached! is to go to a sreen printing shop( check yer yellowpages ) Go and tell them that you need silk screen they have these nice wooden frames with the silk screen firmly attached. makes the method a breeze! Plus they have all different sizes, I'm not sure but I think the best is like 200 something , they'll know what your talking about.

Okay the method from Ed won't work, you cannot add weed at the same time you add hops. There is no alcohol in the brew until it really starts fermenting, so Do Not Add Weed To the Non-Alco Brew. Instead do this, - how long does it take for the beer to ferment in the vat?, like 3-4 weeks? Okay now the stage when you bottle the beer is when you add THC, I'm basically convinced from my experience, and what I've read that you should not use weed/veg. matter, The alcohol content is so low that IMO only trichomes/hash should be used so that you can get max. absorb. So just add the trichomes to the vat right before you are going to bottle, If I remember right? then the beer is aged in the bottle for more time before consuming. The trichomes will absorb very quickly into the bottled/ alcoholic beer , depending on the amount of trichomes used, and the type of beer it could be very hashy tasting. For this reason I recommend a nice dark stout, or a strong malt/ale you get the idea , use a strong beer if you dont like the taste of hash.

Hey annon Ya that is exactly what i thought when i started my first batch So what i did was to add the trichomes to the KEG 5days after i started fermentation and i decided to go with a MALT brew instead of regular beer.If my calculations are correct it should be 10-12 percent alcohol(20-24 proof) and that should help some Now as to how it will taste I am unsure it may take a lil experementing to try and balance out the MJ with the brew I will let you all know how it works out and if it works i will post the reciepe for all to enjoy.....JW

Damn ! 10 - 12% ! That'll be some potent beer. I've never tried a malt that strong before, but I think that you probably wouldn't be able to taste the trichomes. Enjoy the brew.

Well i tried it today and yes you can taste the trichomes it leaves a definate hashy after taste. The brew it self is a lil to bitter i will have to fix that in the next batch im gonna let it age about 2-3 more weeks and see what happens if it improves at all. So YES it is possable to brew a MJ beer and have a good THC content i will keep you all up dated on its progress....JW

Hey KIWI well i only drank a few ounces of it and i was baked allready so i am not sure how much buzz i got from it.I will try it by itself next week and see what happens AS for the for the ratio i used 2 oz's of comercial greenbud and sifted off the trichomes via the silk screen andi dont know what the amount of trichoms came too(i dont have a scale) and put that in to 5 gallons of brew. The beer stood for 10 days befor i tried it and it needs to ferment for at least 2 weeks minimum.Longer is better so i will let it sit for at least a nother week befor trying it again......JW
