I once had a coworker that would bring into work a nice batch of cookies. It was really funny to be eating these cookies during the work shift ha ha ! Anyway, he used this butter method that he swore was the only way to be successful w/ cooking weed.Well i disagree.I once bought that instant cupcake mix(add water only, done in 10 min.)and it worked awesome! WOW i was flyin for hours.Because this was so much fun, I introduced 'eating weed'to my buddy. It just so happened to be that at the time of this introduction,I had no food!(aside from weed, definately one of the main ingrediences)So in desperation to have my buddy try this, I grabbed a mug and filled it w/ about 4 grams of chopped grass and a shitload of ketchup and threw it in the nuker for about 30 seconds. Then I smeared the mixture onto a couple of soft burrito shells, rolled 'em up and ate.(I really had NO food)They were gagging! Really gross, but about 45 min latermy friend was experiencing a high he's never felt before.Point being, from my personal experiences there is NO correct way of cooking w/ pot.As long as you COOK it into whatever you plan to eat.....fasten your seatbelts cuz you're goin for a ride!-GreenFun!

well, i think i have to disagree with you both. to say that there is no correct way to cook with any given herb is to deny the culinary tradition. i like to use mj in place of oregano (very similar flavour, colour, and texture) whenever i can spare the kind. any self-respecting cook will keep in mind the appearance, texture, aroma, and flavour of a dish in equal proportion.
my recommendation: if you want to get high, smoke a bowl. if you want to mellow out, and get some good zen time, spend a few hours in the kitchen, learning about the use of various herbs and spices. if we are truly to have a cannabis culture, we should make sure that when we introduce cooked pot to our friends, the recipe is one that scores high by all criteria. in the kitchen, flavour means a helluva lot more than how high you get.
bon appetit!

Hello Funglewood! I absolutely LOVE cooking!I love to use various herbs and spices when I cook too(for their flavors). But when I cook w/ cannabis,I surely DONT do it for the flavor. Then again,I'm among the group that doesn't particularly like the taste of cannabis, and I'll go great lengths to cover it up.But I think I speak for most when I say,'cooking to get'high'is the only reason to cook with it PERIOD'. Just my opinion though.Anyone else out there cook it for 'the flavor'? Hmm,I cant imagine just sprinkling it on my salad in place of oregano....dont think I would get high like that. Then it would defeat the purpose entirely.GreenFun!

Well, I was quite interested to read your opinions concerning cooking with cannabis and how you felt about it. I encourage others to put down their feelings on the subject.
Though I must say in response to Fuglewood's comment about "if you want to get high smoke a bowl..."
Smoking pot and eating pot are 2 totally different highs. Eating pot is a very intense high, even psychedelic (trust me!) and so eating cannabis soley for the purpose of getting high is just as much a spiritual experience as appreciating it as you do, a complimenatary herb for your cooking.
I guess what I'm saying is, there is no right or wrong in this. I have a great passion for cooking, and spend much of my time preparing food. Savoring many flavour combinations, and experimenting with different herbs/spices. Though, when I eat cannabis, I do it with my nose plugged! Why, because it tastes disgusting to me. But I can't get that type of high without eating it, so I do.
Mabey in the your kitchen, flavor means a hell of a lot more than how high you get. But for me, when you're eating a herb that costs $80/quarter ounce, it's definitly about how high you get, flavor is irrelevant.
Eating herb is also about making a smart choice about cannabis consumption. It is much more healthy than smoking, and is an excellent alternative for those people, who cannot or will not smoke.
Though I can appreciate your passion for cooking and encourage you to continue to cook your cannabis how ever you see fit. And I will do the same.
Thanks again for your comments.

I'm one of those people who love the taste of pot. Unfortunately i can't cook worth shit, but i'm learning how to bake, so hopefully i can bake and bake with my favorite spice for life. Having trouble posting privately but...and to think i almost lied about my waistline.

well, good point about the price. that's why i started growing.
when i'm talking about using herb as an herb, i mean the lower fan leaves, the stems, and any other shake that you haven't already used to make hash.
ask your dealer if you can get a couple oz. of shake from him. most dealers who grow don't mind giving it away. . . .
you're right, friday, the high is different. then again, i use a LOT of oregano. see my post "chicken mushroom yum yum" and try the recipe. it really is good, and the leftover drippings make a great gravy that will keep you high for a few days.

Hmm If I used stems and lower fan leaves I'd be eating alot of protein from all the dead mites! I used to pop a nug in my beer and eat it after the beer was done. My pal boils stems in water and uses that to make his beer with. Some people say you need to absorb the THC into an oil first, then cook with that. It makes sense, seeing as though cannabis is absorbed into fatty tissues in the body. Grow it, Smoke it, Eat it but for God's sake don't waste it! Peace
