Shake is another name for trimmings. When you harvest your plants and manicure them, all of the leaves that are trimmed away from the buds are collectively called shake.
Shake has a considerably lower level of THC than in the marijuana flowers (or buds), and so when cooking with shake, you use a lot more than if you were cooking with buds.
Shake is also commonly reffered to as shwag, trimmings or bunk.

I have always refered to the broken up weed in my bag as shake. I get a lot of average quality bud, most of the time in bricks or pressed together. Every now and then there is slightly more weed that looks already broken up, and maybe a higher concentration of seeds and stems. Once I strain them out, I don't notice the quality being much different. This is probably because the shake that I am referring to is just bud that is dry and crumbling off. Anywayz, this is often what I cook with or make hash oil out of. The leaves and trimmings of homegrown bud is probably just as good for these uses. I just don't see a lot of it when I buy a sack.

well, I'd say what you refer to as shake is even better to cook with that the shake that I am speaking of.
The shake that I use can normally be bought very cheap or even free if you no someone. A lot of growers just get rid of these very useful trimmings after harvest.
