Okay...I just wanted to clear a few things up...Over the years there has been so many sources declaring one way is better then another...I don't see it that way at all - its situational IMO!
If you germinate your seeds and there is a small white root tip BARELY emerging (or if you put the seed right in the ground without any root tip emerged at all - like in day 1-3 of the diagram), the root will naturally do a 180 degree turn "downwards"; so if you decide to plant your seeds this early in germination, then put the pointy end up so the root doesn't waist energy doing a "three-sixty" (I have dug up seeds just to test if they would do this and yes they sure do).
If you germinate for a little longer, the sprout will also grow longer! When you germinate to this point, one should put the root tip "down" as if the bean was already growing in this manner (the seed/sprout will look like day 3 - 7 on the diagram, but obviously won't be in the soil yet). If your are very observant you will notice that the pointy end of the seed is still in the opposite direction of the root growth thus the root has already done its "one-eighty."
How long you germinate and how you germinate is up to you...personally I germinate longer and put the root tip down as if it had already began growing in that fashion; however for over 2 years of my growing experience I planted "less-germinated" seeds, with pointy ends up with great sucess!
So essetinally IMO, it really depends on what stage your germinated bean is in! I'm sure there are a lot of variables involved with germination, but this is what I have found! I normally grow indica,= and I have no idea if this makes any difference but I strongly feel "this is the way it is" with germinating these mysterious cannabis seeds.
Since I'm so High right now, I can't for some reason suffieciently speak my mind on the subject so I will try and attach a diagram from an ancient book then may help. When this literature was released, planting with pointy end up was standard practice so just ignore the words declaring this method as the "right" way and concentrate on the picures which are fairly accurate.

Great post anyway,I see you typed it all a 2nd time under it's own heading.Great for newbies and experienced growers too. The red stem on the seedlings (NL#5) apears to be genetic.The AK47xWW seedlings I also started all have otherwise normal stem color. The 1st NL#%,now 18 days old has started showing it's 3rd set of leaves,2 of the AK's also are at this stage.I'm giving the other 3,one more week to catch up a little(2nd set started)before I put 'em all in my drip system under the 400w MH........................ I thought this thread died almost 2 weeks ago. Good to see it's alive and well...PEACE

well thanks! I'm calling her 'she' because shes so short and bushy, I cant imagine her being a male. Not that I would know. Thanks for the comments, I felt it was a good thing but having never seen another one before... :-)
