4 leaf clover syndrome !!

Along with my 6 "geneticly superior"plants,I started some primo bag seeds,4 of 6 sprouted,and 3 remain. One of these 3 is growing leaves in sets of 3 at each node,the other 2 are "normal". If it doesn't have a name already,I'll call it "4 leaf clover syndrome". How Rare is something like this ? Has anyone else grown out a plant like this to maturity ? It's not a sign that it'll be a herme,is it ? Either way I'm gonna grow it out to see what happens,after all it was from some beautiful big buds, with only a few seeds, that really kick. I think I'll go fire some up now,let me know what you think, thanks. ....PEACE...

can't fool me,I know you deleated your 1st reply.Thats'OK,saves me from trying to discribe this plant again(lol). I've heard talk of "Polypolides"(sp?),if it's one of those than it should be killer,as long as it's female.

Not sure about the first statement there....Polyploids from what I've read dont occur much naturally. You can treat seeds with colchysine and the ones it doesnt kill (10%) will be polyploid. Faster growth, hybrid-vigor type behavior, etc.. I remember being warned not to smoke the 1st gen plants cause their toxic. Reason enough to stay the fuck away from shit like that. Let the plant grow like it wants to.
Years ago I saw an episode of "Quincy" where the inherent dangers of using colchysine were intimated to Americas young people through the so-so eloquent vehicle of that good and great actor, Jack Klugman, as he soap-boxed his way...jesus I'm stoned.

seeds came from good bagweed
plant was a runt though...and did not make it

I was going to post a similar question, but hadn't got round to it yet. I've had this before. It looked like one of the two cotyledons had split in half. The plant grew three leaves at each node until about the eigth, then it reverted to two leaves per node. All of the branches had two leaves per node. I can't tell you how the plant did because I relocated before the plant flowered.
Recently I found some bag seed where about 10% of the seeds had a ridge running down one of the faces. My guess is that these will have "three" seed leaves, but I haven't tried germinating them yet.
btw, why are you calling this the four-leaved clover effect if they only have three? I guess it could be possible for both cotyledons to split, producing "four" seed leaves, but I've never come across this.

do you mean three leaflets per leaf or 3 leaves at each node?a three leaflet leaf is not uncommon it's probably just a recessive gene coming through.i had a big bud cross last year that grew very well and it grew 1 huge leaflet in the middle and 2 a 1/8 of the size flanking it.The other plants of the same seed were 'normal' and i didn't notice any other differences in potency or yield.but i thought it was very strange and forgot about breeding any of the plants, thinking that the genetics were messed up. anyone know of whorled phyllitoxy(?) i remember it being about odd leaflets or leaf sets, something along the lines of your question.peace

It has 3 seed leaves,3 1st single blades,3 triple blades,at each node.If this continues it should be a bushy/bud filled plant, if it's a female that is. All other plants,of this strain and others,have only pairs at each node.
I called it 4 leaf clover syndrome because a four leaf clover is just a clover with an extra leaf and is rare to find.,thats' why they're said to be lucky...Time will tell if I'm lucky too...

Yup, sounds like the one I had. It was a really beautiful plant, if I recall (I'm going all misty eyed).
Are the three leaves perfectly spaced around the node, or do their stems form more of a Y shape when viewed from above?
Please keep us informed of this plant's progess.
