I have read and read many topic's about puring. But I just can't seem to get the concept and hang of it. When to purn? What heigh, should I purn at the nodes or when new growth starts at the top? Also should I use superthrive at every watering or every-other watering thanks to all who have given me advise in the past.

Just so you don't confuse any more people with your post. I think you mean PRUNE and PRUNING, not purn or puring.

The earliest you should prune (top),IMHO is at the third or fourth internode-clip off the new growth when you can get in their with fine scissors-or just pinch em. This forces your plants to develop branches earlier and may increase your yeild, and will definitely keep your plants shorter. There are many pruning techniques. Besides topping, you can also cut off the lower or spindly branches so that the plant concentrates on forming a fat, dominant kola on the main stem. Another method I have not tried is "double stalking". In this method you let the plants sprout their cotyledons and wait until the first spear shaped, single bladed leaves are about an inch long and raised above the cotyledons. Take one of these spear shaped leaves off. Wait for the next set and follow the same procedure, but on the opposite side. Continue this for four cuttings. You will soon notice a "new sprout" on the side of the plant that you left on the plant with the first cut. To double stalk, follow this procedure to the fourth cutting as mentioned, the take off both sides of the "new sprout". The plant will then "double stalk" (ie., split into two main stems) The plant can resemble two plants growing out of a common stalk. Supposedly this method can greatly increase yeild, but I have never heard of anyone actually doing it. Anyone with experience double stalking care to comment? I m interested in trying it but am not sure of its efficiency.

About superthrive: many use it at a rate of one drop per gallon with all water given from day one until just before harvest when the plants are flushed. I use a little more at transplant time. A lot of folks swear by ST, but Kyle Kushman maintains that too much will cause a higher percentage of males.

For all the first timers growing this fine plant, that stumble apon this thread...
If you plan on growing from seed and don't plan on attempting to "clone" your plants, I would highly recommend NOT PRUNING, pinching or training in any way for your first grow.
For my first few grows, I found that plants un-topped had a much higher sucess rate and gave me better results in the end. I also feel that refraining from pruning will provide a better, more general understanding of how this plant grows; training/pruning, will cause your plants to develope differently. It is also important to realize that some strains don't react to pruning as well as others...a variable you don't want to deal with as a beginner. Well, whatever you do good luck and good growin'!!!

Thank you Simon for the english lesson. I will take that into consideration next time I post a message with the correct grammatical and spelling format. I would hate to confuse anyone in this form with my mis-spelling of words and my substitution of the singular for the plural. I should of spelled PURNE or PURNING. Forgive me Dear Sir for the horrid misrepresentation and confuesion I have caused. I hope one day you can find mercey in your heart and excuse my incongruity.

I did take as a put down. I find the responces quite alarming considering this is an open forum on the topic's at hand but oppions are like ass-wholes we all have one and usually they sink. I was always in line with the thinking that we(us) in the growing no matter how green we are or were in the growing community would always lend a helping hand to our fellow grower's with out the jab in the ribs or the slide or off hand remark or comment for somthing as petty as a typing error or spelling mistake. But maybe I am being to sensitive or maybe some are being to judgemental in this forum when it comes to correct useage of the english diction. My God people we are only discussing ways to improve our collective knowledge and ways to imporve our harvest. Is it such a crime to let others know your feelings on this matter??

That post was in no way meant to hurt your feelings or poke fun at you. Honestly, I had to read through your post three times before I figured out what you meant. I figured you might get more responses to your question if it was clearer. I guess it sort of worked lol :) Stay cool and don't jump to conclusions so quickly :)
