spider mites but only on 1 plant ?? [Post#: 113601 ]

This is quite wierd- I have discovered that I have spider mites on one of my mother plants, but that is the only one! Can anybody explain why they would only be on 1 plant? I have sprayed them with some stuff given to me by the hydro store, but can't get rid of them on the 1 plant?!?! WTF? any suggestions and explanation? This one plant is also the only one that has the tell tale yellow speckles on the leaves too. PEACE

The critters probably haven't gotten around to the others yet-is infestation pretty low key on the one mom?If it is you are just catching it early. You could isolate that infested plant until you eradicate them. I have heard that neem oil is a good mite remedy. I have also had problems with mites on young plants, and all I could really do was isolate the plants-sometimes it was enough of a victory to them under control until flowering-mites, and a great many insects that plague plants that are in veg are not as apt to do much damage to flowering plants-I have seen mites leave flowering outdoor plants.

I just got rid of those buggers! They were on three plants (out of 8) so I took them (the infected ones) outside and washed them with water and headed to my hydro store. The next day, I took all the plants out of my room, swept the floor then sprayed the floor lightly with BLAST, then sprayed all the plants (don't miss those undersides!) and replaced them. Seemed to work....no spider mites in 10 days.

You can knock them back but it has been my experience that you can't get rid of them till after the grow. You haven't seen'm fer 10 days..That's 2.5 reproductive cycles. Time to spray neem. An ounce of prevention right? If you don't spray regularily they will be back. After the grow clean everything, bomb and start afresh.
I've found neem oil best all round in that it doesn't hurt the plants (or you) but it gets the little bastartds. Repeat every 3 to 5 days. I've been fighting mites for 2.5 months. This is what I have learned. I am open to any better suggestions.

I used to battle them. Not no more.1 application of AVID and there gone.No fighting with them. One shot deal. Not to say they will never return, but it's been close to 2 yrs and I've not had them return. If they do I'll break out the AVID again...IMHO..PEACE..

Wow-must be some good stuff. Is it chemically based-sounds like it. Okay to put on flowering plants?

I'm not familiar with Blast or Avid. Can you fill me in on the ingredients? My space is shared with my living quarters and I don't like chemical treatments, but I'd love to try some new weapons in the war on mites. I love Neem, but I hate mixing it.

Dont worry about where Avid is, if Avid is around, Avid will find YOU.

I'd like to find some. Guess that makes me an avid shopper too.
