Setting up a CO2 system

I'm going to install a new CO2 system this Saturday and I need some help. Do I want to use CO2 when the lighs are on or off? This is all new to me so I know nothing about it. any help will be appreciated and the info. will be used. How much do I need to use. I'm thinking maybe turn the gas on for 1min. every 15min. I have a 75lb tank, a solinid, a regulator and a digital timer. I don't have a CO2 senser yet, but want to get one. I don't know where to get one or how much they are. Thanks people, I'm greatfull for all of the info. I've gotten here.

High Stedd90, you'll want to run your gas during the light cycle, the amount you need to use depends on your space and light intensity. I'll dig out the instructions that came with my hydrofarm set up later and post it for you if you like. I have'nt used mine in quite a while, I get paranoid carrying a big ass tank in and out of my house! I plan on buying some paintball gear in the near future, that way it won't look suspicious!..peace...moonshiner

Here is my CO2 system, I run it at 1600 PPM.
You should read, CO2 Temperature and Humidity by Ed Rosenthal.
You only need to run co2 when the lights are on. Cosistency of CO2 level IMO is the most important factor. Boosting it for short periods does not help much.
You should check out this company website for equipment.

Stedd try this site out. http://www.hydroponics.net/learn/co2_calculator.asp . With tis calculator you can see the setting that your flow meter needs to be on for your size room. Also it tells you the amoun of time you should let the CO2 flow for a given ppm. Hope this helps! PEACE
