Why are my buds not filling out? [Post#: 117077 ]

I have a 430 sun agro medal hilide system with the basic white reflector and no shield. I don't have a fan to cool it but it never gets that hot in there. My friend gets amazing results everytime he grows and he has a 270 sun agro Hps. My lamp is twice the stregth as his but he has the hps. We both basically grow the same way but I just don't understand why I'm not getting good results. I've been growing soil for about a year now and we really havn't had great results yet. Whats the problem? I use basic good soiless potting medium with a 20-20-20 peters, superthrive, oxygen supplementation which is 1-2-2, and for flower I use 10-60--10. So whats the deal? Any body with medal hilides that get good results please pm me or answer this post. Thanx so much, I"m starting to get really fustrated.

I'm not a great expert but all the lighting info I've read at hydro equipment distributor websites indicates that red/orange light spectrum induces flowering of plants. High pressure sodium lites are rich in these channels while metal hallides are not.

A 430 sun argo should make the plants produce for you.Nothing wrong with that system.Must be something on your behalf. What do you mean by doesn't produce good results-low yeilds, fluffy buds???Are you letting them flower long enough, lights close enough??Bulb horizontal, vertical??What size of area you covering with it??..IMHO..PEACE..

MH is better for vegging, you can also use MH for flowering but you will get better results with HPS...peace

A Son Agro lamp is a HPS, not a halide. It's the best of both worlds. You recieve both spectrums at once. You should be getting excellent results.

a 430 son agro is indeed a hps with that 30 watts being in the blue spectrum(like mh) apparently to keep the stretch down during initial flowering or as a good 1 lamp grow op.it should be fine for both flower and veg although i've read posts about short bulb life. my initial guess for a big probable problem is the combination of soiless and high percentage outdoor ferts. those ferts will build up quickly in soiless medium and flushing usually is needed when giving them large doses as buildup and nute lockout go hand in hand.lower doses may not effect the plants when not flushing but growth may not live up to its potential. this is a wild stab, more info really is neccesary to correctly id your probs. peace

It could be a number of things that are going wrong with your growing proces,as the others have pointed out. But I have had good results with my basic 400w mhd nothing fancy on my end. I buy the best soil and beans I can afford and I dont over work or over stress the plants. It really takes five or six grows to really get a hand on things a process of learning that we all know is fun and can be very frustating at times. But keep at and it will come. Basics dont over water fert three weeks after the fact and when in doubt go half on ferts strenght if using super thrive one drop per gallon ect. Rember dont over work your plants its a weed so stay at it and result will come. Their are many online grow guides online for you to use. I am not sure if any of this was an answer to your question but I hope it helps you.

Its not an HPS... I called up Greenfields and they were explaining that it was a medal hilide system. An HPS bulb is long and skinny, this bulb is like a big light bulb. Its a long closet about 6 feet deep about 8 feet tall. Half the closet's ceiling is higher, about 8 feet, the other half is about 4 feet.
The light is a horizontal reflector. If you can picture this it would help. Right when you go into a closet theres chain attached not to the left and right sides of the wall, but front and back if you can understand that. The walls are fully mylar'd and we have an Bionere air filter that has an ion generator. 1-1.5 gallon pots are used, and 7 plants at once.
WHen there babies I usually use superthrive, a little tomatoe solution which is a little for phosphorus and pottasium instead of Nitrogen with micro nutrients. We foliar feed with an organic kelp spray bought in a nursery. Plants are watered and fed like 1 a week.
Feeding consists of 20-20-20 peters water soluble mix with micro nutrients, Superthrive, Oxygen for african violets from some kind of ammonia source I think. And thats basically it. We've had good results with one plant which was started under an hps 270 sun agro then switched under the 430 MH agro. The light is about 2 feet from the tops. There is no strong air circulation but there is a low fan from the air filter. No mites or insects. Some little fly's but have to clean it anyway.
The possibilities....... overfeeding......no c02......circulation.......humidity.........size of pots........light type........? I think it could be overfeeding and the light? IMHO help me out BOY"Z

I never heard of a halide Son Agro. Son Agro means added blue content. Why somebody would want to add blue to blue is beyond me. I could be wrong but the light story sounds weird. Does it say Son Agro on the bulb? Mine does. What you are describing is a halide bulb. Is it possible the guy ripped you off? Just a thought.
