Lights?

How many flows sould I add and how many can I add to a 2x8x10 closet. I currently using a 400w hmd and I want to add more light with out going out and buy another lamp. Any suggestion heat is a problem and I dont want to got out and buy a 1000 watter. Plus I dont want to spend and 500 or so bucks for it. So how many double tubed flows do you guys think I need for the best light with the 400watter. I hope this question is clear for all who know to answer.

The more you can fit in there the better. The fluros do not add much heat so it should not be a real concern.

Actually my flouros run kinda hot. Not the bulbs, the ballasts inside the fixture. Could fry an egg on the damned things. I have 3 banks of 2 lights and the 3 ballasts make it hotter than hell in the closet if the door is left closed. Just an fyi...

Luckman is right....the fluro ballasts will emit some heat...but not as much as hid or hps for the same wattage. Make sure your grow area is very well ventilated...whatever the type of lights you are using.

I still haven't heard from a reliable source whether HIDs emit more or less heat than fluoros for a given amount of wattage. It seems plausible that fluoros simply disperse the heat over a larger area, but overall emit more heat. Half the people I've heard say they do, half say they don't. Any personal experiences with this?

hi, i would break down by half.imho. that would give you 50w sq bigger, denser bud. useing that space you have might get the same quinty, but sure not quilty. don't piss around with flos., higher heat= fluffer bud

400 or 1000 watts of HID will give off way more heat than 400 or 1000 watts of flourescents.The bulbs alone in HIDs burn somewhere in the vicinity of 600+ dgrs.Flour bulbs practically no heat.HID ballasts run way hotter than flour ballasts.I once ran 400 watt MH in a small veg room and it got too hot.Replaced with 400watts flours and there was a major drop in heat.Flours run with a considerable amount less heat..IMHO..PEACE..
