One of my fan leaves is starting to develop some yellow on the edge of one of the leaves. Dosent appear to be spreading or growing anywhere else. Am not sure if it was a burn from the light because it was a bit close, but not touching and you would think there would be more of it was a burn from a light but I fixed that and it is at proper heght now. The two things my friends told me is that it could be a nutrient deficiency or because I am using town water (tap) it can be causing the Ph in the soil to become unusable.
Anyone offer any suggestions? The plant is about a month old and seems to be doing fine, am just wondering about this. I thought it might be because of underwatering because the top of the soil was a bit dry, but I watered it and seems to be fine now. Any suggestions? Thanks. (if you need more info, just ask). Yann.

I'm not too experienced, but how often do you water? I was watering too often and the asme thing happened to me. I started to water every 7-10 days and they are doing great...make sure they dry out completely before watering again. If your plants need to be watered they will let you know. They start drooping..I htink better to underwater than to overwater. What kind of lighting are you using?

Also, I had a ph problem around the same time. It was much too high and obviously not getting the nutes, but that didn't turn them yellow..it just made it grow really slow and droop a bit. So I mixed some weak solution distilled water with aluminum sulfate (or ph down) and gave it a dose of that ..then I watered again about 10 minutes later with the distilled water (ph 7) and measured the ph of the water coming out of the bottom and adjusted accordingly. Good luck..and get a digital ph tester...great investment.

At this point your plant sounds fine. But I would check the ph next time you water. You can get a ph test kit from HomeDeopt for around $10 just check the run off from the bottom of the pots. Could be mag problem thats ez to fix 1/4 tsp of epson salt in a gallon of water if you see the problem getting worse. If you have bad tap water thats ez to fix too just buy distilled water 90 cents a gallon. Not sure if this helps but good luck.....
