Broken Coala - so sad! [Post#: 118308 ]

I'm such an idiot! I was doing some bending on my dutch treat last night and snapped one of two main growing shoots...it didn't totally snap off so I duct taped it. The plant is only 13 days into flowering so the flower was negligable in size but man this really sucks!

What should I do...should I leave the tape on and hope she heals? Probably won't cause its already in flower

SHould I cut that shoot right down to next node, hopefully it will take its place?

I would really appreceate some veteran's advice on this! The poor dutch treat was doing so fine...its so sad to see that duct tape on her!

ah man.. That sucks! Im no expert/veteran but if i were you id leave it just to make sure its not going to heal... If its snapped as much as you say it is... it probably wont.. But ya never know. If it doesnt heal, more energy will be directed to the other buds.. so it wont be a major loss. Peace man.

4Free,I know exactly where you are coming from.Awhile back I almost snapped a plant into.It wasn't really a break, more like bent beyond repair. Not knowing any better,I put electrical tape around the area.It healed up very nicely.
Hope this helps............KY

Keep the tape there, it will work as a splint. The plant will heal itself and there will be a large not where the break is. Thats normal for this to happen. I herd of people doing this on perpose to get a stonger stock so it will suppot large colas. I did it once and it seem to work fine for me.

Good Luck and have fun learning as you grow. Thats half of the fun. :)

Congratulations, you've just (sort of)learned hurding. I have hurded plants in veg, it will apparently set back budset if done in bud. You'll be fine, IMHO, the bud may be a little smaller than if you hadn't done it, but what's done is done. Just make sure the stem is still round, not kinked flat like a hose would be at the bend. If it is, you can still form it into shape. Hope this all makes sense.

I'll pray for yours as I am for mine! Hope they do well, based on what I've read... you should be good, I know some people break stems on purpose, splint them up to support more weight later.

Quite frankly, the leaves are lookin hurtin, and I don't think she'll make it, the poor girl...so sad too, only a young'un.

Good thing I happened to top this girl, and she has got the other main coala and the two other "sub-coala's" (is there a proper name?) which are coming on strong. I haven't seen a dutch treat so vigorous under only 400 watts; could be a good yielder and the buds are lookin well developed for there age. Good thing I got a couple cuttings and the top from her growin for a ma, just in case!

Thanks for your help guys. I guess I will just leave her there until the obvious is well, just obvious. I have been keeping all the manicured trim (off the buds I have been buying) and I'm getting a bubblebag from bubbleman. I guess the little girl will just get made into some hash!

Peace.
