For the price of a 1/4!!

I see a lot of people on here with indequate light that say they can't afford a good light. Well, they just need to open their eyes and look for a second. There are constantly lights going on Ebay for under $50. I have bought about 15 of them so far for a grand total of about $200. Here is one right now that is going for $30 bucks I think http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item;=581603244 All I'm saying is that you don't HAVE to spend $200-300 to get a light that will produce some big buds. Why wouldn't you invest in an HPS?? I'm sure that $40 investment is going to bring you a hell of a lot more than an 1/4 ounce worth of bud. Just my 2 cents. I somebody can't find a good deal, PM and I'll find it for you and pass it on. That pretty much goes with anything. I know I can't give awesome grow advice because I'm still a rookie, but I sure can sniff out some good deals and help my fellow CC'ers out. Good luck guys and hope to hear from you!

You are so right. I have a friend that smokes an ounce of primo shit every two weeks. If he would take the money he spends in just 2 weeks, and gained some patience, he could have a constant source that cost him next to nothing. No matter how much shit I give him about it, he still won't do it.

fasterlearner..not to discredit anything you say, but I have looked thoroughly on ebay..the cheapest I got a mh light is 100.00 ..that comes with wiring and everything, but no bulb. THe bulbs are like 20.00 alone. If you find some more fixtures with ballast and wiring, please post it here. Thanks.

I might be wrong but about 10 inches above this in my original post I included a URL for an auction where you can get a 400w Metal Halide with ballast and bulb for right around $30. Did you even read my post or just scan over it. That auction will end today, so I suggest you check it out soon. Good luck. If for some reason the link doesn't work for you than let me know and I will repost it another way.

There is probably about $15 or so shipping charge also associated with one of those lights so the total investment would be like $45 or so.

Another option is Home Depot. They just built another one really close to my house and they have 400W HPS setups for $80.00US. Pretty good deal, just add a cord and viola! you have light.

no doubt about it ecopaind! the THCBC is a great deal with current exchange rates. i have ordered from them in the last month and my 274.00 dollar Canadian, came to about 192.00 dollars US. their light system do not come with a ballast box or reflector and they will wire up the kits for 10.00 bucks.

Did you say that their system doesn't come with a ballast for $194? I can get a 400w setup at the corner hydro store for that price. I wrote this thread for the people who have inadequate lighting and either WONT or CANT spend that much on lights. Eco - I am not telling you that this is better quality, obviously! I am just pointing out that people can hook up with an HID system for under $50, which is about the price of a 1/4 ounce. Got me?

hey guys just figured i'd mention that i found a wholesaler in my city, theyve got to be everywhere, just call a lighting store and ask how much their 1000 watt hps go for. they will give you a number for a guy who sells them by the hundred, cause thats how many he buys at a time from warehouses going down. most stores dont have lights that big, but i found a guy who rebuilds them, gives a three year warrantee, and can put together any configuration you want. obviously dont call from your grow, and dont use your real name. but you might use my excuse, i have a basketball court i need to light up. when in a year from now i go buy another 1000 for 180$ american,or 50 for a 400mh, i'll tell him that i need to light up the other end of the court now, besides, he's a long hair. horizontal with a enclosed hood and glass, 8 foot cord from ballast to hood, 8 foot from 110wall to ballast, worked for me, and he nodded when he threw in 2 extra bulbs, used of course, but heh, anyting yu wan. hope this helps someone.

i understand where you're coming from fastlearner, doing it on the cheap so to speak. most of us have been there, and it rarely hurts to be frugal. its $139 cdn for 1000 hps with ballast without box(although the ad said it contained one),and its warranteed. boxes are cheap at an electric store.I mainly posted to let people know that there are relatively cheap new light out there, as another option.peace

The octagonal box that thcbc.com says comes with the kit is just the little metal box that the mogul socket is attached to. I ordered a 400HPS from them about 3 weeks ago and was very pleased with it. My total cost was $204CDN without reflector, delivered to the other side of the country. Pretty good deal if you ask me.
