I have some plants going but the 400hid lamp seems not to be getting the job done this time. two feet wide eight feet long 8 foot high grow room i was thinking about adding some flows four footers 40watt I know one flow adds about 2,800 lumanas. But I am only useing about 1/4 of the space shoud i add to sets of 4 foot flows cool white having a proble figuring out hom man lumanas per sq foot that i am useing will give me can you guys help?

Hey Godfather..it's the watts/sq/ft you should figure out..take the length and width of grow area you want to use.Multiply together and then multiply again by 40.2' by 2' area will give you 4 sq/ft..The recommended lowest watt/sq ft is 40..multilply 4x40 and it will give you the wattage needed for grow area..2'x2'=4sq/ft..4sq/ftx40watts sq/ft=160 watts..a 2'x2' area would require 160 watts of lights to give you 40watts/sq/ft.More watts/sq/ft is always better:)..IMHO..PEACE..

Hey Godfather,
When you say you are using 1/4 of the space, do you mean you only using 2 sq. ft. ?
I'm not sure how you would mix the fluoros with the Hid, unless you put the hid in the center and kinda filled out the outer edges and sides. Remember, youve got to keep those fluros about two inches from the plants. If you can afford it, I'd buy another hid. What kind of hid do you have now? If it's a metal halide, I'd get an hps. They're supposed to be good together. Hope this helps....

Yes its a mhd I bought a conversion bulb but I think its only puting out 360 instead of 400watts. Your right i do have it in the center and one flow one each wall laying flat its the best I could think of..
