Well my little girl(hopefully) is bout 5 inches tall... spindly.. stretching.. but not dead! This isnt for high quality bud or anything i just wanna see if i can get it big enuff to bud. :) The lil thing is stretching because no artificial light. All done by sun. is it safe to ... chop part of it to sorta train it to grow bushy. And could someone link me to scrog tutorial or somthing... I dont know what it is but it helps with bushiness i think? ok well, thanks. Its growin slow but already has leaves ready to fan... (2 of them at 3 points now) It has pretty broad/wide leaves for how small they are... what does that mean. I could get some pix but im embarresed by the low quality close up shots of my digital cam. :P ok so is it ok to chop it near the top and maybe uh... find away to stop it from gettin to tall. This ones gonna go out in my woods prolly too when big enuff. Oh yeah, do rabbits eat these things. cuz thats the only animal ive ever seen back there. alright well thanks for the replies and sorry... kinda stony right now, sorry if its hard to read or whatever.
thanx again, -kmkid "Blaze all day"

Hopefully I can answer your question, but I may just confuse the issue. You can top your plants anywhere from the fourth node on-ignore the cotelydons and count the first single bladed leaf as your first set. When your plant has four sets of leaves, you can snip or pinch off the topmost one and force the meristems (branches) to develop, giving you two main shoots. Do this a few times before flowering and you will have a nice bush at harvest time.
As for damage control against vertebrate pests, I would suggest putting a "collar" around your plant. Make it about a foot high and make it out of transparent or transluscent material. This should get er' going until she (hopefully) is stronger. Also, if you have dogs or cats, you can employ their waste products and hair as detterents. Human urine is good, too. Peace.
BTW-how are the leaves looking?

Hey Durban, you can use dog and cat waste in your soil or around it or what? I thought I read that waste from meat-eaters was not good for plants, including human waste. Can you clarify?

Only bad thing about putting that collar around your plant is that it makes the stem weak. I knocked over one of my plants one time, so I did that with a straw to keep it standing up..and when I took the straw off it just fell again. I then propped it up with a little stick and within 24 hours it was standing up on its own.

Oops-sorry! No, I did not mean to suggest that you add carnivore waste-matter to your soil. I meant that you might want to try creating a perimeter around your spot-a definite line that many critters will not cross. Adding this stuff to your soil is not good. Peace.
Oh, yeah: About the collars-you may try creating collars out of a rigid plastic frame with some fine-mesh screen wrapped around. This would improve air circulation/wind stress.

ohhh ok..I see what you're saying purple..True true..but if you have something around your plants, make sure to air it out or put some holes or something, because of the humidity.

I see what your sayin kinda. But i took some time and drew up something... check the attachment. K? Should I snip (when at four nodes) at the blue, red, or yellow lines to train it to "Bush". :) also, what are the lil 4 hairs around the first leaf stems? will they grow into something? Thanks for your help guys.

Good diagram! IMHO you should snip at the blue line. The branches will grow from the point at which the leaf stems meet the main stalk-you want to cut a bit above this. For this reason, it is a good idea to let the plant get a little bigger than 4 nodes (wait til the stalk grows a little past 4 nodes)-so you have some room to maneuver the scissors.
I am not sure what you mean by hairs. If they are white and fuzzy, she's a girl! But from what you say, I doubt it is flowering yet. You may be talking about the very beginnings of the aforementioned branches. Peace.
