I burned my leaves this morning..I didn't know that flouros would burn leaves if you let them touch (stupid on my part)..so I would let them touch so they could stay close and get the intense light, but I woke up this morning and they were burnt. Do I just leave them at .5-1 inch at all times ..anything I should give them to help this? thanks for the help.

You can not burn the leafs even if they touch the fluros all the time. Now this said, it is true...but if they touch the metal ends of the fluros then yes you can burn them. If this is your case...make sure that they do not touch the metal ends and there is nothing you can do to recover the burned leaves.

"Standard fluorescents don't get hot enough to burn the plants unless they are in direct contact with leaves for several hours. VHO tubes will burn leaves before they touch them. But you do want to keep the lights as close to the plants as possible. This encourages stocky, robust growth."

Hi CannabisUrungus,
I have never used the VHO tubes but with regular fluros even if the leafs touch them for many days it will not burn them..unless they touch the metal endings of the fluros.

It doesn't hurt to hear a second opinion (especially from an expert source like Ed Rosenthal).

hi Urungus - sounds like a quote out of the MJ Growers Handbook. I concur, although my lights do get pretty damned hot. I was keeping one fan on the lights (which eliminates any heat to the touch) and one on the plants, now I'm just using one 20 inch from 3 feet. Works fine, leaves can grow up into the lights every night and its not a problem. My understanding is if its uncomfortable for your hand then it is for the leaf.
