Pot-TV Newshawks: Police uncover marijuana plantation in Phoenix

A father in his 40s and his son, in his 20s were taken into custody and are now facing at least three felony counts each. Officers say that the marijuana was grown in pots in a shed on the side of a house near 42nd Street and Thunderbird Road. Hi-tech equipment including lights and fans, and about 200 marijuana plants worth about $100,000 were found inside the shed.

Two medical marijuana users filed suit Wednesday against federal authorities in an effort to try to stop government raids on pot used by sick patients.

The United States National Institute on Drug Abuse has agreed to supply the drug for a Toronto-based trial, even though the US drug czar disapproves of the program. Meanwhile, about 200 kilograms of cannabis grown with Ottawa's sanction in an abandoned Manitoba mine sits in storage and will not be used on patients, Health Canada says.
