I live in York Region and was convicted of possesing a small quantity of marijuana, in the Newmarket courthouse you mentioned, at a time during which marijuana was legal we have since discovered. I happily walked some dogs at the local animal shelter and smoked some grass while I did it as punnishment for smoking grass. The fact I did not really suffer and actually dont even have reccord now is not the point though.
Anyway, as a youth who grew up in the area, my experiences with the york regional poliece have always been very negitive(even if I was not actually being busted/illegaly interoigated.)And I am not just saying that because they are cops. I happen to even be verry good friends with the son of a substiantially ranked poliece officer from metro and he, and any of his collegues I have met, have been prety nice people. I consider my area of Ontario to be one of the lowest crime per capita places in the province(or anywhere) from what I have seen. I think it is because there is no real crime the policece here have to pick on pot smokers to look busy.
Anyway I have already composed several letters for my local newspaper. I just have look them over to make some corrections/imporovements. I am also going to personally visit the yor regional poliece station and politely voice my opion and hand them one of the several open letters I am sending to the paper. So thats what I am doing for now... If any other viewers live in the area I encourage them to make thier voice heard as well! Or even if you dont... hey I will post the phone number for the york regional poliece some time tomorow if its not already on the main page discuss this show in the CC forums >
