MEDICAL MARIJUANA USERS SUE FEDERAL OFFICIALS Two medical marijuana users filed suit Wednesday against federal authorities in an effort to try to stop government raids on pot used by sick patients.
FIRST CLINICAL POT TRIAL TO USE U.S. STASH The United States National Institute on Drug Abuse has agreed to supply the drug for a Toronto-based trial, even though the US drug czar disapproves of the program. Meanwhile, about 200 kilograms of cannabis grown with Ottawa's sanction in an abandoned Manitoba mine sits in storage and will not be used on patients, Health Canada says.
UTAH JUDGE HEARS ARGUMENTS IN PERON MARIJUANA CASE Dennis Peron, Kasey Conder, 20; and John Entwistle, 38, appeared in a Utah court to demand their case be dismissed.
CHIEF DOESN'T WANT THEM RAIDING POT CLUBS Lansdowne said his four officers and one sergeant have better things to do - - such as tackle the methamphetamine epidemic -- than harass local pot clubs, which are operating within state law.

10-YEAR SENTENCE FOR BRYAN EPIS Epis insisted that there was no conspiracy; that he and four other people with doctor's recommendations were growing the pot for their individual use. Whatever was left over was given to a Chico cannabis club Epis helped establish for distribution to its patients, he said.
PARENTS BECOME MARTYRS TO LEGALIZE POT Dennis and Denise Schilling were driven to hang themselves in a Madison motel last month under the threat of prison and forfeiture of their Big Bend home, the result of being accused of growing marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms, according to family members and friends.

DEA DEFENDS MEDPOT RAIDS San Diego DEA Chief complains to local paper: "The DEA is viewed by proponents of Proposition 215 as non-compassionate people who target ill patients for investigation. This could not be further from the truth. In fact, the men and women of the DEA are very compassionate people who…make our communities a safer place to live."
DAVIES FOUND GUILTY Colin Davies, 44, was found guilty of three counts of possessing, supplying and importing cannabis as well as letting his shop being used for smoking the drug. He was arrested last year after smoking a joint during a police raid on the Dutch Experience cafe in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR'S RACE GOING TO POT Green gubernatorial candidate Peter Miguel Camejo is polling over 5% with his well-placed one-liners, his association with Ralph Nader, his liberal Latino politics and from his enthusiastic support for legalizing cannabis.
USA TODAY: STOP LOCKING UP DRUG OFFENDERS "In California, state officials say a voter-initiated law offering non-violent offenders treatment options has already helped thousands and saved $6.7 million in prison expenses. The state estimates that every $1 spent on treatment for substance abuse saves $7 in reduced crime and health costs."

UK LICENCE GRANTED FOR CANNABIS A large trial of cannabis-based medicines has produced compelling evidence that they can help to reduce pain, say scientists. GW Pharmaceuticals has been given a licence by the UK government to test a range of cannabis-based prescription medicines.
FEDS REFUSE TO ALLOW MEDICAL MARIJUANA The dispute over medical marijuana has turned into a war of words, providing yet more proof of a deepening conflict between California and the U.S. Justice Department over medical marijuana.
