These are not my plans, but I found them on another website and thought I would pass along to newbies like myself. It looks pretty cool and very straight forward.

say thanks for that web site build your own hydro. I think im going to go with that. now this is my very first time growing and trying the hydro. and my next clones I would like to start this way. now how do you set up the pots for the plants. and do you fill this bucket all the way up with the water so that the pots are in the water.?? the way I see it the pots are free standing in the water with air going throw the water. and the sol. that you ad to the water! and how far can you let the water level fall. befor refilling.

Jerry,
I am new to this and will be implementing soon, but I had the same questions you had and contacted the individual who has this setup. He to is new to this, but he has had it up and running for about 3-4wks. By know means is this (DWC = Deep Water Culture = aka = bubbler setup) a new concept, but just new to the three of us.
"How do you set up the pots for the plants"?
Cut holes in the top of your container (bucket, tote etc) and place pots (grow nets or reg pots with holes drilled in them). It sounds like you want to use 4" to 6" pots and place them in the holes you cut out in the container. I don't think you want to place more than 2-4 pots in the container. He used another medium, but I plan on using rockwool.

Your nutrient solution should be about 1.5" to 2" above the bottom of the pots. This guy (HelicopterHead) said he never lets his get any less than 1". Also, he suggested that you can change the nutrient solution every 2 weeks, however, in the beginning I would say you want to check the PH level. It's seems to be a very maintenance free sytem, which I find appealing.
