hydro is definetly greener,making it more impressive to the eye.i know,alot of people ape shit over hydro,but there is very good organic weed also.some of the best buds are grown outdoors,like in jamaica.its all about preference.
also,some people prefer the hydro taste,some dont.some hate it.i prefer the taste,only if it is flushed for a long period.ive smoked my share of hydro,and all i can say is that it depends on the strain.some do better in different situations.some are more potent,some tend to have problems.hydroponics is definetly faster than any other form of growing.its all up to you.
dont rely on what other people tell you about weed,find out for yourself.its all out there,its all within your reach.peace.

I find that organically grown pot is better. It tastes better and is usually stronger.
People who say Hydro is stronger are probably comparing indoor hydro to outdoor schwag. Average hydro is stronger and better than average outdoor for sure.
However, I must say that the best buds ever are always grown outdoors.

IMO, outdoor , organically grown pot, is better, not because of just the soil, but also and maybe mainly , the sun. Can't beat the sun and all that fresh air. cough! cough! {lots of chemicals in the air here}. rounderx..

I think that the consumers infatuation with hydro buds is a result of the "technology is better" mindset.....Personally, I find the difference dramatic, with organic taking the upper edge.

I have had suspicions that dirt weed is better than water weed. Now I have some confirmation of this. I think hydro is a better way to grow while dirt is the best way to smoke. On my palate, hydro is usually kind of tasteless or has a chem taste. Maybe the best of the two could be combined with organic hydro.

Well.... Good to see we got a hydro forum..
Now.. About Hydro being better.. Meaning potency? Never heard hydroponics makes your weed more potent...
But I do know is your yeild increases anywhere from 20 to 30%, and grow more quickly, rather than soil. ( Ahhh )
I just have to say... I think Indoor Hydroponic weed is the best. But hey everyone has the taste.. But Never has a outdoor weed ever get me thinking it's better.. Kinda schwag... I Don't like Outdoor pot....
But hey.. I live in NYC, ever tried to take a fresh breath of air in this city...?

in my book hydro is best but only if done correctly!!!!!!
awhile back i posted my ratio`s at cann.com and got flamed
to no end about how weak i use,my reply was look at my pics
and tell me they looked weak!fact is a plant will only takin
what it needs and the rest is a waste,posted info on that too.

i will be posting pics on a side by side- soil/hydro gro soon,wasn`t
planned but had to combine 2 gros into one,long story!so we`ll see
how they do.the best setup would be a hydro setup outside in the full sun!

I used to think that hydro was not as good as soil, but now you can use organics in hydro set-ups instead of chemicals, so hydro now has the best of both worlds.

I would be interested to find out about what professional growers in holland who supply the coffee houses with legal weed use as there setups . you would think in an enviroment where due to the profit made at the coffee houses they could afford whatever method they wanted to use and would use the method that provided the best quality and taste to the consumer paying those high prices. Anyone think of going over and looking for a growing job? I have just started seedlings which will be grown in soil and my first hydro attempt . variety is the spice of life. scooby (peace)

Let me start by saying that marijuana IS ILLEGAL in Amsterdam, it is only tolerated and they do bust grow rooms, but they only take your equipment and give you a fine(alot better then a 10 yr minimum). People think that the pot in Amsterdam is so amazing and that they have crazy set-ups, but this is not true, i think the best pot in the world is in North America. Alot of growers in Amsterdam are just looking to make money and dont really care if they grow the best organic weed possible. Like you mentioned, I am leaving the states to grow and hopefully start my own seed company or what not. I would not recomend Amsterdam if you are planning the same thing. A couple better places to choose would be Switzerland where marijuana IS LEGAL, or Spain where police are not allowed to enter your house, not even with a search warrant, and they actually respect your rights. take it easy , Budds

Aesop, Characteristics of aquaponically grown buds:
The buds burn very smooth to a soft, white ash. The true flavour of the strain comes through and very little else. Chemical Hydro buds can never match the flavour, only primary flavinoids are produced. Secondary flavinoids only develop in naturally grown produce. The sugar levels, measurable on the Brix index, are way up. This is from Breeder Steve who grows aeroponically using fish tank water for the nutrient solution.
Budds, can you offer some evidence for your statement "Spain where
police are not allowed to enter your house, not even with a search warrant" .. love to know more about that one!

Not as much light shed as one might think. That last post about flavinoids is very good information and I shared some Neville's Haze hash with Breeder Steve at the Cannabis Cup and we discussed that very subject. I can pretty much guarantee you that pot grown with chemical fertilizers will not taste as good as that which is grown with organic fertilizers.
To produce potassium chemically for an example, real potash is mined out of the ground and washed with sulfuric acid. A few more proceesses later and viola, you've got potassium. So there's little doubt that the plant is going to react somewhat differently to the presence of all the extra chemicals used to produce the chemicals she wants. In my experience the flavor seems to be what's missing.
But you asked about potency. I'm not so sure there is a difference, I've smoked plenty of pot in Holland where they grow with chemicals and do not flush. The pot will hardly burn and has no flavor, that's why they mix it with tobacco.But you sure get stoned!
One hardly ever gets a chance to test a sample that is the same strain grown well in both set ups to see what the possible differences could be. So you tell us.
