HELP!

Many of my 3-4 week old plants are showing some kind of growth/rot/deterioration at the stem base were the stem and jiffy mix meet. A couple have fell over from "rot" and many others are developing that ring. It looks almost salty! Any help? Can I safely apply bleach or alcohol or ANYTHING???

Well, start over and make sure you don't do what you did again. Make the dirt very airy and well draining, maybe dust the top with a fungicide. You might be able to cut out some of the rot and spray a very light bleach solution.

i woulndt use bleach.but peroxide might help.by the way if your having this problem with small veg plants you will really have problems in flowering if your gonna use same room. durban

I've flowered in this room before and actually have
never had any problems. The only variables here are
the Jiffy mix and the ebb/flow. So I washed as much of the
mix off as possible, applied some Daconil, cut their tops
off (clones) and stuck them into one of them bubblers I've
been reading so much about.
My question now: is the fungus/bacteria/virus that's on
them forever be present in that room? tell me it was the
Jiffy mix...

even if it was the jiffy mix i think i would do a major clean up of the room to be safe. mop the floor with 1 cup bleach to 2 gal water, spray a funguside( can't spell) or dust with one. this is only to be safe . peace mota20 ps i do this after each harvest to be proactive.

sounds like the notorious damping off... all the suggestions thus far are good, mine is for prevention... let your plants live in a drier environment.... if you're in a hydro bubbler, let your solution go down a couple inches so it's not constantly wet at the base of your plant... if your ebb/flow and other assorted active hydros, don't let the nutes get too physically high in the medium and this should prevent future damping off problems

iv'e been here less than a month and they are realy annoning(my spelling realy sucks too!)
