Re: Breaking News: Marc Emery Arrested In Regina
AndJusticeForAll,
Sun Jul 13 08:30:39 2003 Courts in Canada and Alaska are ruling that cannabis is "without offense known to law". But even more interesting is the reason why. In the case of Canada the cannabis laws are a violation of Canada's Charter of Rights and in Alaska they are a violation of Alaska's State Constitution. Cannabis prohibition itself is, in fact, an "offense known to law", specifically the laws enumerated in the Charter of Rights and the Alaskan Constitution. If Cannabis Prohibition is illegal now, then it really has always been illegal. Anyone currently being detained in Canada or Alaska on cannabis charges are being detained illegally.
Monday is Bastille Day. Let us see something truly revolutionary: the affirmation of our basic human right to be free and not to to be illegally locked up in a cage for on an illegal charge.

Pot activist busted smoking up outside cop shop Canadian Press
Thursday, July 10, 2003
A marijuana activist has been freed from jail after being arrested on Wednesday for lighting up outside Winnipeg's police headquarters.
Marc Emery, self-proclaimed Canadian Prince of Pot lit up during the Winnipeg leg of his Great Canadian Smokeout tour.
He told the crowd he wanted to be arrested and planned to legally represent himself.
The publisher of Cannabis Culture Magazine said he wanted to show Manitobans "that they are getting ripped off by their attorney general.''
On Wednesday, the federal government announced it will sell marijuana seeds and dried pot to sick patients who qualify under its medical pot program.
The government acted on a legal deadline set by an Ontario judge.
The judge ruled Ottawa couldn't logically give sick people permission to use pot without also providing a legal source of supply.
