AIR PUMPS FOR WATERFARMS

I have looked over many old post's and I have been unable to find a solution to my problem, the problem is that I have 75 WaterFarms I am seting up and there is no way I am going to run 75 FARKING PUMPS! or even 10 with the bigger ones selling from $90-$200. There has to be a better solution I was thinking like a big air compressor 100gal or more with a regulator and air hose systems but I am not sure as how to set something like this up or who to ask about 75 little air lines that need to run, with out raising eye brows, also i will have several 40 gal resavoirs and i need to heat all of the systems.

A compressor is fine, just build a manifold to tap into for air. A piston pump can be had for $50 at pets.com and can push 10 buckets. Did you buy all those Hydroframs ? Just wondering because local grow shop charges $60 each, I can show you how to make one for less then $10, and better. You have invested alot either way, dont skimp on air pumps. A compressor will make alot of noise, and require its own electric circut, and im guessing it would run at least once a hour to charge up.....if your in a isolated area it should work.

noise would prob. be reduced by useing a 100gal compressor the thing i dont know how to do is build this so called manifold???? thankx for the info...... also $10 is so very cheep i thought the $45 was a good deal with the nutes and grow rox and ect.... thankx -Chron.... ;>

Are you saying that you spent $3400+ for your setup? Not including all the lights you are going to need to cover 75 waterfarms...All I can say is Ouch!
I must say this is going to be one hell of a system once she is up and running, I would really like to see pix of the operation once you got it going. As for your manifold, I used to work in an optics lab and all the machinery was pneumatic (needing compressed air to operate one thing or another). The air compressor was connected to copper pipe, that ran in a straight line behind the machines. At each machine, there was a coupling installed, so an air line could be attached to the machine. The coupling is the same type they use to attach tools to compressors except it can be soldered in place along copper pipe. With this you could do the same, installing a coupling at each plant location. Be sure to drain any water from your compressor tank, you don't want this water traveling down the air line and making its way into your resevoirs. Hope this helps...K_K
P.S. You could check out Grainger They will rush you out a HUGE catalog with tons of stuff for industrial applications. I am sure you can find what you are looking for there, or at the very least a few ideas.

yeah the initial investment of the farms was kinda expensive but the end product will be well worth it as for noise i was thinking, but i dont know, if i get a very large compressor it would not have to turn on very much to keep the low pressure of the farms going also it will be located in the basement

75 Waterfarms? Wow... you could set up an ebb & flow much cheaper with less noise and only 1 pump. Would simplify things but I guess to each his own. I'd still love to see a pic of 75 of those hooked up! Good luck and don't compromise safety, GFCI plugs should be used.

Well I can see that you are not growing for personal use and knowing the market, I am sure you will make all that hard earned cash back with the first harvest. As far as the noise level, you are just gonna have to get used to hearing the sound of a washing machine off balance for a few minutes each hour! If anyone asks, tell them theres an asian man in the basement with a jack-hammer and he's taking a shorcut back home! Good Luck...K_K

Air compressor idea shot i spoke with some Pros and they said that i should use a Rotary Vane Pump 5.5 cfm pump 1/3 hp and use a piece of pvc pipe put the tube from the pump in the middle of the pipe and cap the ends get little nipples and put them on the pipe he said it would run 100 buckets... i will see and post more info also this grow is not for me, just helping a friend get started... ;.

Well I did a little research and found something that might be of interest. Most recommend an 802 Elite per 2 buckets which is 1500cc per bucket or 1.5 litres per minute. Hagen a company that makes fish pumps sell one called "The Pump" model #100 which puts out 96 l.p.m. or 1.28 l.p.m. for each of the 75 buckets.Its a got a hefty price at $1199 CDN from www.bigalsonline.com but it is designed to be quiet and run multiple fish tanks.
Using only 140Watts it should be more energy efficiant than any compressor and make far less noise.

the easiest way i could think of would be to use a fairly strong submersible pump and use flexable tubing and T's to connect the pump to your drip rings. so the water will go from the main resivor through the pump up into the tube and reach all the rings via the tube. (you are using a main resivor connected to all the units i assume.) so when the water drips from the rings to the bottom of the bucket it will run out the exit on the bottom and back to the main resivor. i just thought of this and have never tried it, hope it helps...... i am not sure if you would have a problem with water levels using this technique.
