Do you mean organic vs. chemical? Hydro vs. soil? I don't understand?
I prefer to use organic fertilizers in a soilless mix, as a matter of fact it's the only way I garden, been doin' it over 6 years and would'nt touch a chemical fertilizer with a ten foot pole!..peace...moonshiner

you can use organics or chemicals IN soil as well as IN hydroponic applications. I don't understand what you mean by organic vs. soil....moonshiner

Hello there confused. A soil contains organic matter, period, if it is a soil! As the shiner said, there are organic and chemical fertalizers but there are no in-organic soils; only "soil-less" mediums in which fertalizers are added to the medium for all the plants nutrient uptake, whether or not they are chemical fertalizers or organic.
You can grow in soil using organic nutrients utilizing items such as guanno's (shit), or pre-mixed solutions such as Earth juice. You can also grow in soil using chemical nutrients such as miracle grow and many, many others.
Help any? I will reiterate and expand if you are still lost...let me know. Honestly, I think you need to gain a good base knowledge of this amazing plant so I would recommend hanging out reading some posts and possibly purchasing a good grow book such as the "Insiders guide", by Mel Frank. There is also a new book for beginners called Easy marijuana growing (think thats what its called) Peace.

I have grown hydro, in soil using GH nutrients, and I now grow in soil using Earth Juice.
My hydro was not too bad, but I did flush 2-3 weeks. I noticed a big improvement in smell and smoothness once I switched to organic. But once I switched the quality went up, but the quantity went down.
I much prefer organic grown pot over hydro, but I really miss those big plants.

pretty broad statement!
your on that side of the pie and i'm on this (different perspectives)
my father a chemical engineer, would argue that all things of earth are ORGANIC (loosely by the definitions of organic chemistry).
i, myself, stop well short of pouring chemical (waste) or (dog?) piss on MY plants!

whats Earth juice? Im starting a grow outside,dont have much money for guanos and all that good shit.lol.Might not be able to get anything mixed in the soil before I take my seedlings out.At the most I might mix in some virmiculite or something for arration.Might have to go with the miricle grow or something as I water.Suggestions anyone.Peace

Earth juice is a nutrient concentrate, and the guanno approach is also a very good option too...for a very cheap and readily available (my area anyways) alternative, I recommend Alaskan fish emulsion 5-2-2 for your primary nutrient. I used this particular organic fertalizer for my first 2 years of my growing experience and found it forgiving, easy to use, in-expensive and very effective. For flowering, just buy a small amount of high phosphorus bat guanno or alternatively the Alaskan emulsion thats high in P...I prefer the guanno though! You shouldn't need to much bat shit if you only grow a small garden...I have lots, so if you are only growing a few plants, and your still around, I will send you some 4free. Alaskan is a little stinky, so don't spill it, but I think you will find it quite effective in producing, nice tasting, and very smooth organically grown marijauna when grown in soil. Just my suggestion, and yes, Earth juice is reputable to be very good although some complain about the hassles of pH adjustment and the needed catalyst.
It always seems wierd that people are choked about the pH of EJ, because I figure you should check your nutrient solution's PH regardless of which product, and adjust accordingly. Peace and hope this helps you out a little bro.
