What I'm confused on is how are head shops in nearly every city in the country allowed to sell pipes and bongs without problems, while Chong is sent to jail for the same thing? Is it just because they were referred to as bongs and not as "tobacco water pipes"?

Chong's attorneys argued for no jail time, saying the actor and comedian would use his celebrity to become a role model against drugs and would dedicate his life to public service
Chong said he's been working with youth groups, teaching filmmaking and speaking against drug use.
The case cost him a recurring role on the Fox sitcom "That '70s Show" and a planned reunion movie with Cheech Marin, with whom he co-starred in comedies including "Up in Smoke" and "Nice Dreams." >>
I'm wondering what kind of sentance they threatened Tommy Chong with that made him cave and plead guilty like this?
I think it must have been more millions than he has and 5 or 10 years in federal prison or they threatened his family and friends or something .
Notice there was no mention on the pound of pot they found in his residence ?
I'd like to know if anyone has the details .
I was wondering when he visited Pot Tv and took such a small hoot off the bong in his interview with Marc if the movie reunion he was planning with Cheech, which the night before the sentancing Cheech was on the Jimmy Kimbel show promoting, could not be yet another goverment sponsored hollywood movie that appears to be a pro pot comedy but is really prohibitionist and anti-drug in theme by lampooning the users? Not unlike " Amos and Andy" in black-face once did blacks.
What tipped me off was Chong let it drop that the script was written by his daughter whom I wondered perhaps takes a dim view of her fathers nostagia for marijuana .
What I hope, what I Really hope, is that Tommy Chong was not so much 'acting' and "playing a character" in his movies as he was giving an academy performance in court when he said he had given up the healing herb for "salsa dancing".
Doesn't that leave a ridiculous impression in your mind ?
Can you picture Tommy Chong salsa dancing every time he feels the need for a toke ?
That's got to be a clue right there that hopefully Chong and Snoop Doggy Dog ,who also kisses U.S. D.E.A. butt , are not complete sell outs .

I think like Marc said once, that the problem with these big name celebrities and the reason they wont stand up for the sacred ,healing ,usefull herb, is they figure they have "too much to lose" including thier travel priviledges, wealth and status in hollywood .
Thats why it's pathetic but the sick and the dieing those who have already lost everything to prohibition are usually the only ones with the balls enough to put them on the line.
