Re: The Prince Of Pot - Post Election Pot Plan
ZionistRobotComb,
Wed Jun 30 19:18:38 2004 yes, i agree that whole little space ship thing was pretty wild congrats on the election. i heard someone say that the NDP is now the "new kingmaker" Canadian politics is so much more fun than our boring duopoloy (which is really just a monopoly). Everyone here in the states needs to vote "third party"! if there is no one running then run. (or at least write in a Libertarian canidate.)
NDP with a total of 19
gir,
Tue Jun 29 18:04:03 2004 Saddly the vote ended with only 19 seats given to the NDP and the Liberals with 135. 2 seats less than is needed as it is 155 plus 1 for the speaker. Looks like the Liberals will have to encourage the Bloc to vote at least a few votes their way if they wish to delay a new election. In so many ways this is a disapointment from the NDP holding the balence of power, but it is still better than most of us hoped to come true. Jack Layton and the NDP has seats that the Liberals need as the Conservatives (Canada's Republicians - Make that a poster next time) are going to try to defeat the Liberals in a vote of confidence ASAP. This also makes the Liberals have to play nice with the Bloc, and having seen the Bloc elect 55 seats in Quebec, mabye this is a good idea. This just means that we all have to get prepared for the coming election as we now know it will happen soon. This also gives Jack Layton and the NDP a real need to keep us. The NDP attracted a huge increase in youthful voters. I recieved posters and cards from Marc and passed them out and put up posters in locations that we frequent hang outs for pot smokers. I found that in my riding most people that smoked never voted, most of these non voters had never voted. I also had more than a few say that in previous elections that they had planned to vote Marijuina party but after meeting the representive they decided not to as they found them to not be the type they wanted to represent them, IE S&M Bondage Lady. The NDP was a party that they felt comfortable with voting for this election as their platform was similiar to their veiws on Marijuina and many other ideaologies. Really I think the NDP could be a wonderful ambassador for the Pot community. The only problem I had really were a few Conservatives telling me that pot heads were stupid, and fellow smokers stealing the signs I posted so they could keep them. I had just put up a sign on the side of a Mac's Convience store and placed one on the opposite side to see the first sign in the hands of some young kids walking away with it. I can understand the desire to keep something cool, but it is hard to advertise if fellow smokers keep taking them. Lets get prepared for the next election, this time lets get enough seats for the balence of power. discuss this show in the CC forums >
