On September 24, 2004, 27-year-old quadriplegic medical marijuana user Jonathan Magbie died after being given the maximum sentence for a first-time marijuana offence and, consequently, suffering medical neglect in a D.C. jail. Loretta Nall, president of the U.S. Marijuana Party, and Steve Fox, Director of Government Relations for the Marijuana Policy Project, reflect on this tragic death and the harsh sentence applied by D.C. Why isn't Jonathan's story in the mainstream press? Where is Heraldo Rivera? Was it because of Jonathan's skin color that this tragic story has not been covered more? I don't even think Drudge picked it up.
Montel needs to know about this story. I am going to call WBAI and see if we can get some coverage on the Pacifica network. Maybe Amy Goodman would like to do a story. Fuck the mainstream press.
