Call Now And Save Steve Kubby's Life!
26 Jan 2006
An American medical marijuana activist boarded a plane at the Vancouver airport to San Francisco on Thursday, ending his long fight against deportation from Canada. Canada's Immigration and Refugee Board ruled that Kubby did not have a well-founded fear of being persecuted or tortured, or that there was any risk to his life if he returned to the U.S. The board noted that California does permit the medical use of marijuana in some cases. As he prepared to leave on Thursday, Kubby repeated his claim that he could die if he has to serve his original four-month jail term. "The four days I was incarcerated here in Canada and the three days I was incarcerated in Placer Country, there were ample jail records of my distress. My wife likens it to taking insulin away from a diabetic." Kubby is scheduled to appear in court in California next Tuesday. And his lawyer says it's possible Kubby could have more jail time tacked on to his original sentence. His wife Michele and their children are also being sent back to the U.S., and have been given a few days to get their affairs in order.
