OTTAWA - A leading financial magazine is shining a favourable spotlight on Canada, saying the country has changed for the better over the past decade.
"Canada has been going through quite a renaissance, in public policy as well as its economy," said an article in the latest edition of The Economist
On the social front, the magazine said Canadians are more confident these days, and Jean Chrétien's Liberal government has shown a kind of "boldness" by trying to decriminalize marijuana and legalize same-sex marriages

In the wake of a new government-sponsored study examining the health benefits and risks of marijuana, an Ole Miss scientist may have devised a solution that could satisfy all sides of the debate: a suppository form of the drug THC that will likely work better than a cigarette or a capsule. According to Dr. Mahmoud ElSohly, president of ElSohly Laboratories Inc. and a research professor at the National Center for the Development of Natural Products, a rectal suppository allows for increased THC absorption in the body without the psychological "high" associated with smoking marijuana.
